~Markings of a
Friend~
Information can be sent by pictures or words
splattered upon canvas,or in songs to be heard
Books have titles and covers to prepare
movies have certain effects for the dare
Artists, poets, and people to whom we depend
can never compare to a Friend
Eyes familiar eager to see
the beautiful and ugly that is me
Ears lending sound to laughter and joys
never rating my thoughts as noise
Hugs for no reason when arms are not near
words from a distance to calm the fears
Never underestimating the power of a smile
even for lips that haven't tasted one in awhile
Sometimes we search and seem to depend
upon the markings of a friend.

Their touch envails the emotions to soar
Encouragement often opens a door
Different eyes
Different face
The light of dim future is shown a way
Sweet smiles when frowns are mad
Gentleness in a world of less faith
Same friend
New stranger
Comfort in complete distress
Miracle in new breath
Careful counselors
Timid teachers
Safety of knowledge to triumph in pain
Angelic reminders
It's okay.
