The Battle Droids employed by the Trade Federation are issued a specialized make of blaster rifle. Some combat droids have been built with permanent guns in place of hands, which ensures that their weapons are always ready. Trade Federation battle droids, in contrast, are built to be generalist troops, capable of setting down their weapon and operating machinery with their hands when necessary.
