Note from Ask a Healer Admin: Part of what I'm sharing on this page is news of an out-patient option for those who want to have medical tests to evaluation the health of their cardiovascular system. I found out about these mobile testing units, from a company called LifeLine Screening, at a propitious time in my own life.
I knew something was terribly wrong because I couldn't walk for more than a few minutes without pressure in my chest, shortness of breath and an overwhelming sense of fatique. If I walked much longer, I'd begin to have pain....sometimes in the chest area, sometimes down the left arm, sometimes a smarting in the chin (a classic symptom of heart attack in women) and sometimes all three symptoms.
Prior to getting the Life Line Screening done, I visited a walk-in clinic. Upon reporting all my symptoms, the doctor on call suggested I wait for an ambulance rather that drive the 5 miles from the clinic to the nearest hospital. I decided I would not go straight into the hospital. That decision carries self-responsibility and it's not for everyone. Instead, I called an alternative health professional I trusted, who has been doing kinesthesiology for many years, with thousands of clients. Through the session with her, my body reported several heart blockages and electrical system imbalances. You may or may not believe in muscle testing. For me, it confirmed what I was already suspecting from the way I felt and from my symptoms.
After this, I started a natural cardiovascular health regimen and felt that I was making great progress when I learned about the Life Line Screening tests. I loved that they were outside the doctor's office, without the cloak of total authority that the doctor often presents when telling you what's wrong with you and what you must do to get better. I was able to objectively observe the test results and that was invaluable to me.
The cardiovascular health tests Life Line Screening provided were of great benefit to me at that time. They confirmed what my body was telling me, which was that my body was getting better. The tests quickly eliminated questions about arterial flow, how well the arteries in my throat were moving blood, etc. If you'd like to know more about when a Life Line Screening might be coming to your area, please visit the website: for more information on cardiovascular testing.
Afib Health Information - Is Your Heartbeat Normal?
Portions of this article, " LifeLineScreening
This cardiovascular health care article contains source material from LifeLine Screening, and addresses the condition known as atrial fibrillation. They now have a test that can determine if you have afib, which is terrific. If you have concerns, please read this important health information.
Atrial fibrillation, at it's most simple definition, is a heart beating out of sync. Heart palpitations can also mean the heart is beating out of sync but can also mean the heart is beating faster than it should, or slower than it should. Normally, you will know something is not right because of that lump in the throat, heart skip a beat sensation. However, there are reasons afib may occur occasionally so it's important to see if it's a temporary fluxuation or the condition known as atrial fibrillation
The heart beats in sync through electrical signals. In afib, those electrical signals are interrupted, resulting in a heartbeat that does not move the blood through the heart in an efficient manner. A disorganized heartbeat, for a prolonged
period of time, is harmful so, if left unmanaged, atrial fibrillation can be a dangerous health condition.
If the blood is not fully pumped from the heart with each beat, the blood that remains
can pool up in the atria and clot. These blood clots can then escape from the atria and lodge in an artery, causing a stroke.
People who have atrial fibrillation are at a five times greater risk of stroke.
