Potential Side Effects of Diabetes Medication
by Ask a Healer
Exubera is a diabetes medicine, prescribed for both type 1 and type 2 diabetes up until 2007, when it was withdrawn from the market. The reason given was that there was not enough demand for the product. It was a form of inhaled insulin, prescribed to treat diabetes. There is no other inhaled insulin product that I've been able to find online. There was talk of one to replace Exubera, called Ollinix but I find no evidence of it ever being released. I am leaving info up in case a new form of it emerges or someone who took exubera in the past has an interest in potential side effects that may have been caused by exhubera.
Please weigh the potential side effects against the potential benefits if considering exubera (partial list, talk with pharmacist or doctor about full list):
Common Exubera side effects may include:
Coughs
Lowered lung function
Chest pain or pressure
Dry mouth
Urinary Tract Infections
Diarhea
Fatique
Low Blood Sugar symptoms which may indicate an issue with dosage include headaches, dizziness, sweating and nausea. You may also experience tremors as a symptom of blood sugar that has dipped too low. There are some medications that, if taken at same time exhubera, may increase this risk so please be sure to tell your doctor about every medication you take, as well as any natural blood sugar balancers you may take.
Exubera may also cause a drop in blood sugar if you have certain medical conditions (discuss all health challenges fully with your doctor), if you consume alcohol with exubera or if you delay eating while taking exubera.
The list of potential side effects above is only partial. For a more exhaustive list, Please visit drugs . com.
You should not take Exhubera if you smoke. Incidences of lung cancer have resulted.
