A lot of the symptoms of this digestive disorder could also be attributed to other medical conditions so it's important to obtain an accurate diagnosis. However, the more of these common celiac sprue symptoms you have, the more likely your chances of getting that diagnosis from your doctor.
Celiac sprue is also known as celiac disease involving an intolerance to gluten. Most who are diagnosed with it are put on a gluten-free diet. Some believe that the culprit isn't really gluten but the result of pesticides such as round up that are sprayed on crops and, in the case of corn, fungicides that are being genetically engineered into the plant itself.
From a medical perspective, genetic predisposition determines whether a person will develop gluten intolerance or celiac disease. Western medicine classifies this condition as an autoimmune disease emerging from genetic predisposition. It affects over 2 million Americans... that's a lot of genetic predisposition! You can find more information about the disease, it's symptoms and available medical treatment options at the Celiac Disease Foundation.
