Nashville
Veterans' Day Parade, 2005
November 11, 2005 dawned as a perfect
day for a Veterans' Day Parade in Nashville: Not a cloud in the sky and
temps in the low 60's. The occasional shout of "Welcome Home" and
especially "Thanks for the ride" were certainly heartwarming. The
turnout for the parade was one of the largest, if not THE largest,
we've seen.
Parade co-Grand Marshall was our own chapter's LTG Hubert Smith,
retired, US Army.
As each participating group came to the end of the parade at Broadway
and 3rd Avenue, they were saluted by a "dress right, dress" line of
several uniformed military members,
an especially nice honor.
As in previous years, after the
chapter contingent finished
the parade, we adjourned to Big River restaurant for lunch. The
occasional war story was
heard . . . .
George Neely, Ross Rainwater, Rhea
Rippey,
Tom Reeves, Chris Horton, Guest, and Jim Clark
just before parade stepoff at 1100 hrs.
George Neely with Chris Horton and
Chris's son,
also named Chris, who came from Atlanta to
join his dad in the parade.
