1987 Peugeot 505 Liberte Edition Sedan
FACTS: Peugeot introduced two new engines this year. A 2.2 litre SOHC four
replaced the old 2.0 litre pushrod motor in most models. Also, the 2.8 litre
Douvrin-built Peugeot-Renault-Volvo V-6, last seen in the 604, was finally
installed in the most luxurious versions of the 505.
The Liberte Edition was intended to commemmorate the 100th anniversary
of the Statue of Liberty, a gift from France to the United States. This was
also a way for Peugeot to clear out the remaining supply of its soon-to-be
obsolite 2.0 litre XN6 engines, which were used in this model.
