Here is some personal info about me:
I am in my forties, married, and mother to two beautiful children. I'm a home schooling mom after teaching Kindergarten for eight years then being a stay-at-home mom. I hope to continue to home school both my children as long as possible. As a certified teacher it is still not a piece of cake to home school, but I don't regret it at all. I enjoy being at home with my children and I'm genuinely glad at not having to load them onto a school bus or drive them to school each morning while it's still dark outside. We are ALL learning a lot. I've done quite a bit of reading to get ideas for improving and growing as a home schooling parent. There are several links to home school sites on our Home School Page. One thing I've learned is that you can't be afraid to try something new.

This is a list of things I I like to do:

We joined the United Methodist Church in 1993, and I enjoy it so much! I'd like to encourage everyone to find a church you enjoy and feel a part of, and attend regularly. It helps start my week just right!

I love music. My father makes and repairs musical instruments, his specialty being dulcimers and fiddles. I now have the first fiddle he made! It has a lovely sound. Katrina and I took lessons for a year to learn old-timey, country fiddling by ear. That was really fun! Both of my kids take piano lessons now and love it. They get a little nervous at their recitals but we parents just love when our child is up there showing what they've worked so hard to learn!

Now I'll get on my bandwagon:
Are you aware that every time you or your child takes antibiotics unnecessarily you are running a risk for developing Candidiasis? If you or someone you know has "mystery symptoms" (especially after taking several rounds of antibiotics) that doctors can't seem to get a handle on then maybe you'd like some information. See my page on our personal experience with candidiasis.

Having to deal with health problems that didn't respond to our "western" brand of medicine here in the U.S. led me to start on an exciting path of alternative medicine and healing. I am now a certified Quantum Touch practitoner. I enjoy working with others to resolve their health problems. I even run energy on pets! If you would like more information e-mail me. I do hands-on and distance work. It works very well for relief of pain and inflammation. I've already had several wonderful positive experiences working with others, it's so wonderful to be able to help someone else feel better without harmful drugs or expensive treatments! And what is more natural than laying hands on someone who is suffering in order to bring them comfort?

I am very interested in learning about natural foods for healthier bodies. I've learned that over-processed foods can be very harmful to our bodies (even though they do taste great). I've switched my family to cold-pressed oils (olive and canola) rather than the other hydrogenated or partially-hydrogenated cooking oils which I've learned are definitely bad for your arteries. I also try to use rice pasta or whole wheat spaghetti, and whole grain and vegetable pasta as it contains more vitamins and fiber. Read the labels! We eat whole wheat and spelt bread. Right now we are eating very little processed food, lots of veggies and grains, some meat, fish and chicken. I've learned to cook lots of vegetables that we never tried before, and I learned that I LOVE butternut squash (just baked plain with no butter or salt), white sweet potatoes, and collard greens! (In the past I never would have even tried them!) Katrina and I also like to use avocados to make guacamole using salt and lemon juice. I try to make it a family adventure!
NOTE: IF your child is having lots of stuffy noses and ear infections you may want to try giving up or at least cutting down on their wheat and dairy consumption and see what happens. I wish our pediatrician had been more supportive of diet therapy, but not many doctors are aware of how important our diet can be.

Have you ever tried Flax Seed Oil? It has numerous health benefits. It is a "healthy" fat that our diets nowadays lack. It also helps dry skin, constipation and many other problems. I did a search on the Internet before I started using Flax Seed Oil and I was amazed at the many good reasons there are to use it. Here is an interesting site relating to flax seed oil: Windspinner's Page - Flax Oil InformationIf you are interested in natural, alternative therapies for cancer and other health problems then this is the page for you.

You can see my own favorite recipe for whole wheat bread (for the oven, no the bread maker) on my recipe page. I have posted some other recipes that we use quite often, too. They are egg-free, sugar-free and tasteful (believe it or not)!
