My grandmother was born Pearlie Ann Moyers in 1896 in Cumberland Gap, Tenn.
She married my grandfather, Roscoe C. Shipley and together they brought 14
children into the world. They lost 3 little boys in infancy but raised the
others the best they knew how, with lots of love and enough food and clothes
to do them.
We lost my grandfather in 1976 to a heart attack but Grandma was still there
for us and we for her, as she'd suffered a debilitating stroke several weeks
before. She spent quite a bit of time with my childhood family, but she
passed on before she could know all of her great-grandchildren.
My little grandma has been gone for many years now, but I still remember
the wise sayings she had for all occasions. I hope you and your family
like them as much as my family.
