The 100th Anniversary of the building that housed old Fire Station No. 9.

Streets were blocked:

Many dignitaries along with several hundred people were present on this somber occasion. Very moving, were my first thoughts as the opening ceremony included the raising of the flag and the recitation of the Pledge of Allegiance, followed by names of those fallen officers from all departments being read as a bell was chimed with each name.

Wreaths were placed by the various department's Color Guards, at the base of the flag pole in front of the monument to the fallen comrades; be they in the Fire, Police, Sheriff's Department or Volunteer Fire Fighters.

And, our own V.C. Historian Mike McCormick

At the conclusion of the ceremony, refreshments were served inside the old Fire Hall.

The homemade ice cream served in old fashioned double-dip cones sure looked mighty good.
