Why the fascination with JCS? Well, for me, there are many reasons why I love Superstar. First of all, as a child of the early seventies, the music and imagery never fail to dust the cobwebs off memories of my teenage years, and how can you not love something that takes you back to a favorite time in your life? Digging down a little deeper, is the emotion that was put into all of the incredible performances! I never fail to tear up during Ted's "Gethsemane" and Ted and Barry's "Trial Before Pilate"! And, last but not least, is the movie's effect on my personal religious beliefs. As a child, in sunday school, Jesus was a mimeographed picture that we had to color. He was a myth, a legend....no one ever took the time to present Him as a real person...until Superstar! After watching this film, I have been able to see Jesus as a man who felt pain, fear, joy, doubt and ultimately an incredible faith in his beliefs! It has allowed me to feel more in touch with Him! For that, I will always be grateful to everyone connected to this fabulous film!
