R.E.C.A.L.L.

What is R.E.C.A.L.L.? This is yet another new program that the ladies of Krimson Kourts, Inc. of LeMoyne-Owen College have implemented. The acronym R.E.C.A.L.L. stands for “ Reading Encourages Creativity And Love for Learning”. R.E.C.A.L.L is a reading group for elementary school aged students in the Memphis Area.

The goal of R.E.C.A.L.L is to help children read and understand the 25 books that they are now required reading during the school year. The Ladies of KKI promote reading for enjoyment. KKI also tries to increase reading comprehension, higher level thinking, and critical thinking skills by emphasizing the need to understand what is being read, rather than just reading word for word. The group currently meets at the Poplar branch of the Memphis Public Library on Monday evenings from 6-7:00p.m.

Monthly Featured Books:
Oct 2004- Bud, Not Buddy by Christopher Paul Curtis

M.O.M.s

M.O.M.s is the acronym for Mentoring Our Mothers. M.O.M.s is a program started, and run, by the Ladies of Krimson Kourts Inc. on the campus of LeMoyne-Owen College. The Ladies of KKI aspire to encourage the mothers who are in pursuit of higher education. Often times the plight of moms who are college students goes unnoticed.

The ladies of KKI realize and understand that the struggles of this particular group of women can be overbearing at times. The aim of this program is to offer a helping hand by providing college moms with information that may be useful in their day to day lives.
