Notes for WILLIAM YARBOROUGH:
1742-Brunswick County VA Deed Book 2, p. 229, Judith Mitchell, wife of John Mitchell, released her dower right in sale of 400 acres of land to Thomas Eastland 3 Mar 1742.
1746-William Yarborough, who intermarried with Mary Randall, widow, who was guardian of George Randall, orphan of Peter Randall, rendered an account of the estate of said orphan. ( Order Book 1744-49, pg. 233)
1754-Lunenburg Co VA will Book 1, p. 140 - Will of John Mitchell. Wife is not named in the will (possibly died before John); Sons: James Mitchell, Isaac Mitchell. Catherin Mitchell, wife of Robert Mitchell; Daughter Mary Mitchell, wife of William Yarbrough; son-in-law Jacob Mitchell; Housekeeper, Elizabeth Sawyer; Executors: Jacob Mitchell and Isaac Mitchell; witnesses: Reuben Searcy, Francis James, Ann James. Will dated 29 Dec 1753, recorded 4 Feb 1754.
1757-Lunenburg Co., VA Deed Book 4, p. 384: Francis Bracey of Lunenburg Co. sells to Paul Gauthrop of Dinwiddie County.. for 50 pounds...345 acres on Butchers Creek .. land adjoining Wilkinson, Smith and Thos. Hawkins. /s/ Fra. Bressie; Witnesses: Jeremiah Whie, Isham Eppes, Junr. & William Yarbrough. Deed Dated 21 March 1757, Recorded 5 Apr 1757.

Was William Y, Sr. possibly 1st md. to Anne_____ who d. after 1739 was William Y, Sr. possibly a brother to Lazarus Y. who md. Anne____ and has a daughter named Mary b. 14 Jan 1742????


292. Daniel Sledge


Moved to North Carolina in 1762
1771 Daniel appointed Lieutenant for County Militia
1777 Governor Richard Oaswell appointed him, Captain in the State Militia, Captain in the Navy.
He had 5 sons, 4 served in Revolutionary War
Their descendants are in North Carolina, Mississippi, Alabama, Tennessee, and Texas

In the name of God Amen; I Daniel Sledge of Warren County, State of North Carolina, do make and ordain this my last will and testament in manner and form following:

Item - I give to my son, James Sledge, the following Negroes, VIZ: Tom, old Phillis, Stephney, and young Phillis, the daughter of Beck. Also one walnut desk, to him and his heirs. All which he has in his possession except young Phillis.

Item - I give and bequeath unto my son Archibald Sledge, the following Negroes; Grace, David, and young Dick, and also one walnut desk to him and his heirs, all which he has in his possession except young Dick, and the desk.

Item - I give and bequeath to my son Isham Sledge, the following Negroes; John, Ben and old Jenney, and also one bed & furniture, four cows & calfs, four sheep and one walnut chest, to him and his heirs.

Item - I give and bequeath to my son, Joel Sledge, the following Negroes; Grant, Dick & Phillis his wife,Charity, the daughter of Beck & Katie, and also one bed & furniture, four cows & calfs, four sheep. One folding table, one iron pot, one woolen wheel, one saddle & bridle, one axe, and two broad and two narrow hoes, to him and his heirs. All which he has in his possession except the Negroes and sheep.

Item - I give and bequeath to my daughter, Deliah Waller, the following Negroes; Judy and Violet, also four cows and calves, four sheep. One bed and furniture, one womans saddle and bridle, one linen wheel and one young mare called Fly, to her and her heirs. All which she has in her possession.

Item - I give and bequeath to my daughter Winnifret Dawson the following Negroes, yellow Jenny, the daughter of Pall and Nell, also one mare called Gray, four cows and calves, four sheep, one bed and furniture, one womans saddle and bridle to her and her heirs.

Item - I give and bequeath to my son, Sherwood Sledge, all that tract of land whereon I now live, including the land I purchased of George Kirk, and the following Negroes, Simon, Pall Sarh, George, Doll, Anneky and Cenha. And also one mare called Frower, one bed and furniture, four cows and calves, four sheep, one side saddle, one bridle, one safe, one frying pan, one large iron pot, one box iron and heaters, one looking glass, one square walnut table, all my carpenters tools, one narrow axe, two iron wedges, one pair large steelyards, one can of bottles, two broad and two narrow hoes, to him and his heirs.

Item - I give and bequeath to my daughter Lucretia Sledge, the following Negroes, Bess, Esther, Sane and Aaron. And also one young mare called Tiny, one bed and furniture, four cows and calves, four sheep, one woolen wheel, one side saddle and bridle, to her and her heirs.

Item - It is my will and desire that the residue of my estate of what kind or nature, shall be equally divided between my children, without being sold, VIZ: James Sledge, Archibald Sledge, Isham Sledge, Joel Sledge, Deliah Waller, Winnifret Dawson, Sherwood Sledge and Lucretia Sledge, share and share alike, as nigh as possible. After paying my just debts, which division is to be made by Javes Sledge, Col. James Paine, Thomas Miller, and John Faulior or either three of them. I do hereby constitute ordain and appoint.

My sons, James Sledge, Archibald Sledge, and John Faulior executors of this my last will and testament, in witness whereof I have here unto set my hand and affixed my seal, this 26th day of November Anno Domini, 1791

468. (Johannes) Conrad Bender

29 Sep 1750 Johan Peter Sr., Johan Peter Jr., and Conrad Bender landed in Philadelphia. They took the Oath of Allegiance in Philadelphia on 11 Oct 1750.

4 Mar 1761 Frederick lCounty, Virginia. Peter Bender bought land from Johannes Swarbach; Deed book 10, page 568. Paid 5 Shillings for 3 acres. This land was used for the Mount Calvary Lutheran Church. Also known as Hawksbill Chnurch. Petere Pa9nter and Jacomb Shaffer Turstees.

1768 Frederick County, Virginia. Peter Painter's estate is inventoried. There is no acurate record that he was ever married.


1774 Shenandoah County Court John Crum, Frederick Comer, Christian Comer and Conrad Bender (Painter)were appointed to appraise the estate of Christian Holderman.

23 May 1775 Will of Ann Crum Parrish of Beckford, County of Dunmore; Listed John Crum as heir witnessed by Conrad Painter.

1776 possible that Conrad captianed a militia group in the Revolutionary War.

1783 Tax list for Shenandoah County, number; 066 1785 Heads of families by Richash Branham: Upper End of Page Valley - Conrad Painter; 4 white souls, 1 dwelling, 2 out buildings. Johsua Painter; 3 white souls, 1 out building. Joseph Painter; 1 withe soul.

1790 Shenandoah County Federal Census; Conrad Painter.

22 Feb 1792, Deed Book H page 345 Conread covnesy entire estate to son Joshua Painter.

1799 Deed Book M page 95 Shendandoah County; Conread sold 100 acres at Hawksbill creek to son Joshua Painter.

1802 Deed book H Eve Painter busy land from brother Joshua Painter.

1810 Federal Census Shenandoah County; Conrad Painter 00001-00001-01.

1813 Deed Book U page 129 Eve Painter bough land in Shenandoah (page) County, from brother Joshua Painter of Lincoln County, Kentucky.
