Person, his uncle, did the research.Bill Person talks about an estate in France called the Parsonage, where a Person family resided. Then mentions William Person (c. 1500) who was mentioned in
an account of a battle and his son Richard Person (c. 1522) who was killed in battle. John Person (1544-1603), oldest son of this Richard Person, loyally
supported King James I with his wealth and in battle. This John Person is not as widely mentioned as his younger brother in history. Robert Person
(06-24-1546 to 04-15-1610) can be found under the name Robert Parsons in the Encyclopaedia Britannica. The two sons of John Person, Lawrence and John
Person II (1567-1633) fought the Irish rebellion to depose the O'Carols as Earl of Rosse, a leader of the rebellion. Lawrence was made Earl of Rosse and
awarded Birr Castle, now Parsontown, King County, Ireland, and the Persons still live there. John Person II was involved with the London Company with Sir
George Somers, and his son Richard Person (1588-1677), named for his great-grandfather, was made a ship Captain.Richard was born in Somersetshire, England and is shown on the Transverse manifest in 1607 at age 19 with his infant son Richard being one year old. They are
later listed in the census of 1608 in Jamestown, Virginia and then they were shown on a manifest to Barbados and then back to England.
Captain Richard Perse (with a footnote that this was Captain Richard Person) is manifested to Jamestown, Virginia at age 45 and then on to Barbados on
January 13, 1634. He is then manifested back to England on the Weymouth on March 20, 1635. In the census of 1623 another reference is made to a Richard
Perse so it is likely that the Persons were involved with business or held land in Virginia and possibly in Barbados also. Captain Person would have been 35 so
this likely refers to him as his son Richard would have been 17, and there is no mention of age. Because Captain Richard Person was representative of the
London Trading Company, it is likely that he was involved with commerce and trade in Virginia and Barbados. This would explain his trips to both places and
his staying in Virginia for a year at a time.Memo: 10 generations
