For many years now, McDonald's has given cars out to kids [big and small] as free gifts with food
purchases. These are very short run sales promotions, and it is usually somewhat
difficult to complete a full set of any
given year. With the exception of the very early years, these are usually very low cost toys with lots of plastic parts and somewhat limited detail. It is also interesting that many years toys closely follow New Mattel Released ideas. Now, That's what I call a Bait & Hook Sales Strategy!!! [aka: Smart Marketing]
This page is an on-going effort of
information gathering for these special
little cars. It seems that everyone has some
of them. But no one seems to have much info
on many of them. I Do Have a Lot of Extras to
Sell or Trade Also. Until I Get Time To Update Prices, Please Just eMail Me With Your Needs & Wants. With the Help of Agent AIR, here is the
progress we have made so far.........
NOTES -
Firebird Funnycar 3250 - variations are orange and
black
"bird" on hood w/yellow & black headlights and yellow & black "bird" on hood with white & black headlights.
NOTES - Land Lord 3260 - [HK Base & MY Base] Orange w/yellow, orange & black "Street is Neet" tampo on rear wing. [interesting thing here is that this color
combo is not in any of the guides]
NOTES -
Corvette Stingray 9241 - [HK Base] Red w/orange,
yellow & white
lower side tampos, "Corvette" is part of the tampo and touches the rear wheel wells.
[interesting thing here is that this car is not in any guides with the tampo this way]
NOTES - Chevy Citation #3362 - [HK & MY Base] Metallic brown with red, white and
black side tampos, "Citation" in white. This car can also be found with a French base, but its doubtful that it was available from McDonalds.
NOTES - Dixie Challenger #3364 - [HK & MY Base] Orange with red, white and blue rebel flag tampos. I have found no proof that the variation roof tampo, "without" the flag was ever a McDonalds car.
NOTES - JEEP CJ-7 #3259 - [MY Base] It also was released with a white frame around the windshield. I have found no proof that the variation was ever a McDonalds car.
There were six different castings in 2 different colors and they were on normal blister cards.
NOTES -
Sheriff Patrol - Most of the Sheriff Patrol
cars have the number 701 on the roof, the McDonalds car has the 123 instead. This car was also available in 1990 on blister card #59 and in 1991 the blue in the tampos was changed to Aqua.
