Week 3

The first technique demonstrated how to create a relief-type image by creating a mask and using the addition of another layer. The first part of your assignment this week is to create two relief images of your own design. Experiment by choosing different selections from the Source Window or different channels. See what you can come up by trying different things. Please post two "relief" images along with the original "relief" image from the tutorial to your homework page.

Below are the relief-images I made using different channel splits:

RGB SPLIT:
red

HSL SPLIT:
saturation

CMYK SPLIT:
magenta

CMYK SPLIT:
cyan

The second part of our lesson taught us how to take a large picture/graphic and turn it into a smaller, more manageable size and yet display the focal point of the image in an interesting way. Now, it's your turn to experiment with this technique. Try using different shapes for your selections. Experiment with drop-shadows or cutouts, or maybe something completely different. There is no right or wrong here. Let your imagination take flight and have fun! Please post two "zoom" images, along with the original "zoom" image from the tutorial, to your homework page
