Come walk with me. It doesn't matter which path we are traveling, what matters is that my friend is by my side.

If the path is straight and sunlit, we can laugh and share simple pleasures. The time together will be our gift to each other.

If the way is rocky and clouds darken our path, we can guide each other and arrive safely at our destination.

If the darkness is within me, don't feel that you have to say anything. You chose to be with me and your presence says it all. My burden is lightened and my path is easier to navigate. Your smile - your gentle touch - your hug, calm the tumultuous storm within. I feel calm and safe. I am able to continue the journey.

If it's my turn to comfort you, please understand the hesitant, unsure, vocal ramblings that I utter. My brain cannot adequately translate the emotions I feel within my soul. Don't be afraid to reach for my hand, for in doing so, I can feel that I have lightened your load. If you need me to walk ahead and determine the path, I can accept the responsibility. If you need me to fall behind and allow you some time alone, I can be patient.

Speak openly and be honest with me and I will do the same. Disagree with me if you must, I can only learn from your insight.

If we happen to meet someone else along the path, our relationship won't be changed or somehow diminished if they choose to walk with us. I won't feel threatened by the presence of another. I am secure in our friendship.
