VICTORIA TRENT
On May 27,1995 Victoria Lee-Elen Trent was born. She weighed eight pounds and was twenty- one inches long. She was a beautiful baby and the family was thrilled to have a new baby to spoil! At about nine months she started getting sick. We took her to Hamblen Pediatrics and they kept telling us it was just sinusitis. Then to prove to us that it was sinusitis they did a CT scan of her sinuses. This revealed a mass at the base of her brain. She was immediately transported to Childrens Hospital in Knoxville. They performed surgery the next day. She was then diagnosed with medulloblastoma which is a rare type of cancer. She was in ICU for several weeks. She started chemotheraphy when she was ten in a half months old. She was frequently hospitalized due to the side effects to the chemotheraphy. She spent her first birthday in the hospital. In January she had a bleed in her brain but didn't think it was anything serious. But in March they took a MRI of her brain and spine and found the tumor had returned and there was nothing more to do! We could have put her through radiation but the doctors said she would have been profoundly mentally retarded meaning she would be like a vegetable. On April 19,1997 her little heart gave up. And God had a new precious soul in heaven. She didn't give up to the very end. She was a true blessing to our family. Our family has learned that we should never give up on what we do. If Victoria would have given up we would have not been able to spend as much time as we had with her. But she fought it and lived as long as she could. She was very strong just to be a baby! She spend nearly two years with us and it was the best two years we have had in our life. We just wanted to share with everyone our beautiful rose.
