| And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out my spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions. Joel 2:28 (bold is mine). Back in 1978, I had a dream early one morning. This dream occurred after many months of tests and trials that I will not go into here. In this dream, I was lifted up from my bed by the Spirit. I saw myself, flat on my back in the air. I came close to a concrete wall that was much higher than I. In order to try to get over the wall to the other side, I realized I had my hands underneath my body, paddling as if I was swimming. I could not lift myself even one inch but the wall disappeared. The next thing I knew, I was lifted up to rooftop height and was shown a building that was about finished. In fact, the workmen were installing the last two sheets of metal on the roof. I remained there until the building was completed. I was then brought back to the ground. I began walking and quickly encountered a company of people. Among many whom I did not know, were a number of my acquaintances. Shortly thereafter, I walked on alone. All at once there appeared a long, green snake with at least a dozen heads very close to me. All of the heads were striking at me, but none actually touched me, although they were close enough to have done so. I found myself bending over, within very close range of those vicious heads and commanding them, "In the Name of Jesus! In the Name of Jesus!" I shouted this many times and the snake disappeared, only to be replaced by a brown snake. The brown snake never opened its mouth. It was as though the Holy Spirit waws revealing to me that while the devil is always around in this life, he is conquered through that wonderful, all-powerful Name Above All Other Names, the Name of Jesus! Then I began to quote in the Spirit, Verily I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever ye shall loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven. Matthew 18:18. Immediately I wakened and the Spirit spoke to me, saying, "I have given this scripture to you. Use it!" The Holy Spirit further revealed to me His more perfect plan for my ministry. He said, "I want to give you the Gift of Miracles!" Always before in my life, whenever I had dreamed of a snake or snakes, I would soon be tested. This was the first thing I thought of after the Spirit lifted. Surely enough, the tests came. My family was attacked, which led me to the ministry of counseling. Counseling in such depth as I had never experienced before. The following Scriptures were quickened to me by the Holy Spirit and I used them frequently in the counseling: Verily I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever ye shall loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven. Again I say unto you, That if two of you shall agree on earth as touching any thing that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father which is in heaven. For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them. Matthew 18:18-20. For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind. II Timothy 1:7. Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded. James 4:7,8. Lives were transformed by tahe power of His Word. Great and wonderful things began to happen in my immediate family. My God-given and freshly-anointed ministry began to develop in a very special way that I had not experienced ever before. I thank God that He gave me back my full-time pastorate of the same church that I had had to give up on account of my health in September of 1972. He also gave me a personal ministry in the community hospitals and souls are being saved regularly there; as many as five in one week at the Jackson-Madison County General Hospital. In addition, He also allowed me to be active in a regular weekly jail ministry at the Madison County jail. We saw an average of three to four souls being saved each week there. Never before in the years of my ministry had I seen so many souls being saved and healings taking place by the Power of Prayer and by standing on the promises of God's Word. There is no greater miracle than that of Salvation, and no greater pleasure than to be used as an instrument in the Lord to bring others to Christ. Praise God! |
