Today, 5/26/2005, we received the information below: Thank you sir!!
Hello everyone. There are actually three photos of that car-bomb that exploded in Tuz the other day on Yahoo News. This particular one is of SGT Brian Wilson, a medic from HHT in Kingsport, but assigned to Troop E in Newport who is helping secure the scene. The other photo is of me looking at the wreckage. The third photo is an overall scene photo. The terrorists targeted the leader of the Tuz PUK (a Kurdish political party) who was in the blue SUV in the background a few days ago. I know this man personally and he's a good friend of US forces. He's not out of the woods yet medically speaking, but he did survive. The bad news is that at least 6 civilians died and about 16 were wounded. No US soldiers were any where near the site, but we responded to help very quickly. When the terrorists target civilians like this, it really helps turn public opinion further against the terrorists.
Best wishes to all of our family of one and I thank each of you for all of your support of us and each other. I'm thankful we're at the half way point in the deployment. Hopefully the summer will pass quickly.
Warmest regards,
LTC Frank McCauley.
