Due to the lack of R.S.V.P.'s by requested time, this is the policy
for the homecoming banquet on November 26, 2005, following the parade:
Those invited to the banquet include: Troop E soldiers, their
wives and unmarried children. Single soldiers may bring a
girlfriend. If space is available, guests may attend at $15 per
person while food is available.
Plaques will be presented at 5:30 at the armory. Each Troop E soldier
who returned from Iraq is eligible for door prizes which will be given
out in a drawing after the meal. Soldiers must be present to win.
Sherill Shults and the FRG
October 29, 2005
Dear families,
I won't be publishing any more newsletters because our soldiers are
almost home, but here's a few notes from today's meeting in case you
are interested.
During the meeting, the 1SG called and stated there will be a
busload of Troop E soldiers arriving at the armory on Wednesday,
November 2. Their departure time from Camp Shelby is scheduled for
9 a.m. Sherill Shults contacted the newspaper with this information
and is asking the community to come out and show your support when
soldiers return.
Some churches across the state are preparing baked cookies, etc. for
soldiers. If your church would like to make individual goodie bags
for our soldiers, it is requested that many of the baked goods be
brought to the armory on Tuesday or Wednesday morning. We have
approximately 77 soldiers but not all will be arriving on Wednesday
so goodies will be accepted for a week or so later as well.
Many Troop E family members are in Mississippi so there was probably
only 20 of us on hand today. We decided to order some more wide
banners, and we hung up a few bows and signs in the community. The
FRG decided to wait until after Halloween to hang most of the bows,
signs, balloons, etc. around the armory and community. This Tuesday
has been designated as our unit's day to decorate and we will meet
at the armory at noon. Free pizza will be available and everyone
who would like to help is welcome.
Everybody is getting excited about the homecoming and some people
have completed their soldier's scrapbook page. Each family is
welcome to come in the armory during the week and put your soldier's
photo(s) in the book. We would not want any soldier's picture to be
left out.
Thank you.
Debbie V.

Hearts are heavy now, dear Lord
For WAR is looming there.
Our prayers are calling out to you,
Our thoughts too much to bear.
Be with our loved ones--THEY NEED YOU.
Guide them, lead them, see them through.
Bless our leader, for we know,
He asks Your blessings, and needs them so.
Protect the innocent, shield their lives,
As bombs and missiles streak the skies.
Open our hearts and fill us with grace,
Guard our loved ones in that place.
This I say, in earnest prayer,
THANK YOU LORD
I know YOU'RE there.
