Hello! Daniel Boone High School Students
TSA invites YOU to take a minute to come and
“Check Us Out”
Daniel Boone TSA is a very active chapter, largely due to the talent and dedication of our members. Our students have won many events at the Regional and State Conferences in the years past, and as a chapter are continually searching for ways to improve our record. We are proud to have received a Chapter Excellence Award at the 2005 National Conference in Chicago. We are excited and proud of the opportunities our members receive in Technology Education and Leadership Skills through affiliation with TSA.
Our schedule shows that we believe being an active TSA chapter means more than participating in competitions. Aside from competing in contests at the Regional, State, and National Conferences we are involved in a wide variety of activities.
We begin our year with the officers attending the CTSO Fall Leadership Conference in Knoxville. This is a great way to kick off a productive year. It also helps us gain new ideas from the leaders of other student organizations that we can bring home and use in our own chapter.
This year several of our officers also attended the National TSA Directions Conference in Washington, D.C. Despite having to brave the rain, we had a great time making legislative visits and getting to know our State and National Officers. This was such a good experience that we fully intend to make it an annual event.
Each October we attend the University of Tennessee Engineering Department’s Engineers Day, held in Knoxville. This is an excellent event in which the university opens it’s doors to area high school students interested in Technology Engineering. We also get to warm up some of our teams up by entering the Structural Design contest and Quiz Bowl sponsored by U.T.
Between State and National Conferences, we hold our own Leadership/Teambuilding Day at Doe River Gorge Camp. Our members push their limits in a wide range of activities such as the high altitude ropes course or the “Leap of Faith”, which consists of climbing a telephone pole and leaping for a trapeze from the top. Each year we try to schedule different challenges which stress individual effort as well the value of team skills. Oh yeah, it’s lots of just plain old fun too!
Each spring we also raise funds for, and participate in the Annual Walk to Cure Juvenile Diabetes. This is an excellent cause, which we are proud to support. Our members would like to challenge all TSA chapters to become involved in some community event or charity.
If you see any of our members at Regional, State, or National Conventions, remember to say “Hi”. We’re the ones in the red TSA polos and we always like to meet other members of our TSA family. Good luck everyone, see you at ETSU…or in Chattanooga…or Dallas!
