The Impossibles were playing another sold out show. Right in the middle of a song, Coil Man's guitar beeped.

"Guys, it's Big D calling," he told his bandmates.

The trio stopped playing, and looked at the tiny TV set in Coil Man's guitar. "What is it, Chief?" Multi Man asked.

"Timeatron has returned via a time warp, and is rebuilding his time machine," Big D answered. "You have to stop him before he can use it again."

"We're on our way," Fluid Man said.

The three transformed into the Impossibles, and drove off in their car. "Rally ho!" they shouted.

They soon arrived at Timeatron's laboratory.

"So you were able to return from Alexander The Great's era," Multi Man said. "Well, we've come to shut your time machine down again."

"Guess again, Impossibles," the villain snarled. "I just finished repairing it. And now it works better than ever."

Multi Man instantly duplicated himself. Tiematron fired at the replicates, but missed the original.

"I can still beat you," he bragged. He pushed Multi Man into the time machine, and set the dial for the prehistoric era.

"I'll stop you," Coil Man said. He sprang across the room. But he, too, ended up inside the machine.

"Seven years into the future is enough for you," Timeatron said. He sent Coil Man into 1973.

Fluid Man turned into water. But Timeatron moved aside, and trapped the human stream inside the device.

"The twenty-first century is the place for you, Fluid Man," Timeatron said.

He looked inside. "The Impossibles are gone!" he gloated. "Now I can bring more past criminals into the present with no interference!"

Multi Man glanced around. He saw a sign that read, "Welcome to Bedrock."

"There's something familiar about this town," he told himself. "But I can't put my finger on it."

What he didn't realize was that he'd been sent back in time to the night that Bedrock was thrown into a panic by the Wayouts' phony publicity stunt. As he walked by, a couple of citizens said, "There's a Wayout! Let's get him!"

"Wait!" the hero cried. "I'm not a Wayout! I'm an Impossible!"

The men refused to listen, and kept chasing him. All at once, Multi Man realized why this was happening.

"Now I remember," he said. "According to the family history, the Wayouts were my prehistoric ancestors. And on this night, they were mistaken for aliens, along with a guy named Fred Flintstone. If I can just find them, I'll be safe."

His search ended rather quickly. He saw Fred and his ancestors in a car, and stuck his thumb out. They let him ride with them, and he explained his predicament.

"There is someone who can help you return to your own time," Fred revealed. "But we'll have to wait until after the costume party."

Meanwhile, in 1973, Coil Man found himself in a strange building. He saw four teenagers and a dog on a moving sidewalk.

"What kind of place is this?" he wondered. "Maybe if I follow those kids and their pooch, I can find out what's going on here."

He got on the sidewalk, and followed. One of the boys turned and spoke to the dog. "You stay out here, Elvis," he ordered. "You know Mr. Socrates is allergic to dogs."

The five entered the room. The other boy addressed a giant computer. "Butch Cassidy and The Sundance Kids reporting, Mr. Socrates," he said.

Before Mr. Socrates could give the group their latest assignment, the blonde girl saw Coil Man. "Hey," she said. "Who's the guy in the blue costume?"

"I don't know, Merillee," Butch replied. "Wally, Steffy, have you ever seen him before?"

"No," the curly-haired boy and brunette girl answered.

"I know who he is," Mr. Socrates revealed. "According to my data banks, he is Coil Man of the Impossibles."

"The Impossibles!" Steffy echoed. "Now I remember. "They were a team who posed as a rock group so that they could capture bad guys, just like us. The only difference was that they were superheroes."

"Precisely," Mr. Socrates stated. "It just so happens that the scientist who built me has also built a time machine. Your mission is to send Coil Man back to his own time."

"We'll do it, " Butch assured him.

"I knew I could count on you." Suddenly, Elvis sneaked in. "That dog is here again. Ah-ah- CHOOO!"

"Let's get going," Butch urged.

Fluid Man gazed in wonder at his surroundings. "A real underwater city," he remarked. "I wonder what kind of people live here."

He walked into a club, and saw a teenage rock group that had a shark for a drummer.

When they were done playing, he walked up to them, and introduced himself.

"So you'd like to return to the past, and arrest Timeatron, eh?" Biff asked.

"Well, Dr. Thorston acquired the Sculpin's time machine," Clam Head informed him. "I'm sure he'd be willing to send you back."

"Why send him back?" Shelley asked. "This is the perfect environment for him. He can turn into water, and he's a musician. He could take my place in the Neptunes, and I'd never have to perform with Blubberhead again."

"I heard that," Jabberjaw snapped. "No respect! No respect!"

"For once, I agree with Jabber," Biff said. "Look, Shelley, keeping this guy here just so you can back out of our band is selfish and unjustifiable."

"Not only that, it's wrong, too," Bubbles added.

"All right," Shelley said resignedly. "Let's take him to Dr. Thorston."

The Neptunes brought Fluid Man to their friend. The Impossible stepped into the time machine, and was soon on his way back to 1966.

The Sundance Kids brought Coil Man to Mr. Socrates' creator. He, too, returned to the mid-60's.

After the Water Buffalo costume party(and the misunderstandings about the Wayouts), the Flintstones and Rubbles accompanied Multi Man and the Wayouts to Professor Rockhauser, the scientist who'd sent the families time-traveling at the World's Fair. When Multi Man entered the machine, the professor pulled the lever. "Three lemons!" he cried with delight. "This time machine works again!"

One by one, the Impossibles rematerialized in the time machine. They emerged, and said, "We're back, Timeatron!"

"I can still use my machine," he reminded them.

"Not anymore," Coil Man revealed. "I activated the self-destruct mechanism."

As if on cue, the machine exploded. The Impossibles seized Timeatron, and carted him off to jail.

On the way back to the concert, the three described their time travel experiences.

"This proves two things," Coil Man said. "Rock and roll is here to stay."

"And so are the Impossibles!" Multi Man and Fluid Man exclaimed.

The End
