Vegeta has had a hatred for Frieza since he was very young because he killed his father.Being very strong as a child he became arrogant and overconfident. He was sent to destroy Goku and Earth, but lost to Goku. This confidence-losing blow angered him. From then on he wanted to get even with Goku. Though Goku reached SS 1st and killed Frieza, Vegeta was not happy, he wanted the pleasure of destoying his arch nemesis. He has been a very strong character all along and even though he doesen't reach SS until the Androids Saga, he is a force to be reconned with. He could have very easily beaten Cell in his 2nd form, but lets him absorb 18 to become complete so he can see Cell's true power. A very bad mistake! In his final form Cell is almost unstoppable and Cell easily trashes Vegeta. Vegeta, as Majin Vegeta, and Goku finally match-up in the Buu Saga and the fight is pretty even, though Vegeta gives him a cheap shot so he can fight Buu alone, he loses his life but Buu dosen't. Vegeta does reach SS 4 in GT by using a ray Bulma makes.
