Ezra E. Armstrong, 57, of 527 34th Ave., East Moline, (Rock Island Co IL) died unexpectedly this morning in Illini Hospital. The body was taken to the Primm-Sullivan Funeral Home.

Services are pending. Mr. Armstrong was born in Perkins, Mo., and married Martha Clark in 1942 in Cape Girardeau Mo. He was employed as a tractor operator at John Deere East Moline Works, Spreader Division, for the last 19 years.

Surviving, in addition to the widow, are two sons, Larry of East Moline, and Donald of Chicago; two daughters; a stepson, Harold Clark of East Moline; 14 grandchildren; his father, Lloyd of Cape Girardeau (MO); two brothers Frank of Cape Girardeau and Glen of East Moline, and three sisters.

Mrs. Essie Mae Gove, 82, of 20 Lancelot, Dahlonega, died Tuesday, March 27, 2001, at the Gold City Community Living Center in Dahlonega following an extended illness.

A Stillwell, Oklahoma native and former resident of Brandon (error - should be Riverview), Florida, Mrs. Gove had lived in Lumpkin County for the past 15 years. She was the daughter of the late William C. and Nora Holland Dolby. At the age of 2 years, Essie was orphaned and was raised by her aunt, Florence Holland Van Matre Gibbs in Cape Girardeau, Missouri. Mrs. Gove was a member of the Dahlonega Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Shirley Ann Montgomery, and a son, Donald Ray Armstrong.

Survivors include husband Mr. Philip Gove, Dahlonega; daughter Christine Armstrong Walters, Rock Falls, Illinois; son Larry Armstrong, Anamosa, Iowa; stepdaughter Bonnie Lee Mae, Lakeland, Fla.; stepson John W. Gove, Lakeland, Fla.; 21 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

At her request, Mrs. Gove was cremated and a Memorial Service is scheduled for 3 p.m., Friday, March 30, 2001, from the Dahlonega Baptist Church. The Rev. William D. Hutcheson, and the Rev. Robert D. Green will officiate.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7 to 9 p.m. on Thursday evening. The family requests that flowers be omitted and anyone that would like to make a contribution that they make it to the Dahlonega Baptist Church, Building Fund, 199 Choice Ave., Dahlonega, Georgia 30533.

Services for Mrs. Shirley Armstrong Montgomery, 45, of Glendale, CA., formerly of East Moline (IL), who died Saturday in California, will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday in the Sullivan-Ester Dahl Mortuary, East Moline. The Rev. Michael Marshall, paster of Bethel Baptist Church in Milwaukee, Wis., her nephew, will officiate. Burial will be in Rose Lawn Memorial Estates.

Visitation is from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the mortuary. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Shirley Armstrong was a native of Messler, Mo. She had been a theater operator for the past seven years, retiring in 1978.

Surviving are a son, Scott Eddy, and a daughter, Sandra Eddy; her mother, Mrs. Essie May Gove, Florida; her stepparents, Mr. and Mrs. Warren Kruze, East Moline; two grandchildren; a sister, Christine Anderson, Chicago; two brothers, Donald Armstrong, Chicago and Larry Armstrong, East Moline, and a stepbrother, Harold Clark, East Moline.

Donald Ray Armstrong,43, Clarkesville (Habersham Co., GA), died Tuesday Jul 23 1985. Survivors include his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Phillip Gove, Cornelia; one brother, Larry Armstrong, Davenport; one sister, Christine Anderson, Wheeling, Ill.; four sons, William Armstrong, Fort Sill, Okla.; Edward, Brian and Donald Ray Armstrong, all of Tampa, Fla,; three daughters, Mrs. Victoria Barr, Theresa and Jennifer Armstrong, all of Tampa, Fla.; Miss Cleo Wooten, Clarkesville.

Funeral at 2 p.m. today in the chapel of Church and Sons Funeral Home. The Rev. Charles Cantrell will officiate. Burial will be in Macedonia Baptist Church Cemetery. Church and Sons Funeral Home of Clarkesville is in charge
