Emila Coats was born April 28, 1840, (should be 8 April ) died July 25, 1913, at age 73 yrs, 3 mos and 17 days. She was married to J. C. Coats July 15, 1858; 11 children born, 8 remain. The funeral conducted by Rev. Herald with burial at Union Cemetery. The body was brought to Cabool from Meeker, CO: C. H. Wallaace, son-in-law of the deceased was present. She is an aunt of Dr. J. M. Coats of Cabool.

Herringtonof Spokane, WA, Ed Coats of Tekoa, WA, Monroe Coats of Lundy, MO, Rebecca Deck and Ada Farris of Jerome, ID, Neri Coats of Baggs, WY, Dans Coats of Rawlings, WY and Clara Wallace of Meeker, CO; one brother, Neri Kearns of Maples, IL, and one sister, Rebecca Coats of Hurst, MO. Her husband James C. Coats and 3 children preceded her in death.
Edna Pauline Rust Coats, 85, died Wednesday July 31, 2002, in the comfort of home and land that she had enjoyed for many years. Born August 6, 1916, in Cabool, Missouri, she was the daughter of the late John and Daisy Rust.
Through the years Edna learned when life got tough to get tougher. Edna developed incredible strength and toughness in hard times. She was a homemaker and enjoyed working in her flower and vegetable gardens, traveling, learning new things, cooking, crocheting, fishing and many other activities. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend who took special care of her family and others when the need would arise.
Edna was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Dan Coats; a son, John Coats; four brothers; three sisters; and many other relatives and friends. Left to cherish her memories are her children, Pauline Wall and husband Don of Cabool and Margie Reiner and husband Jimmy of Mountain View, Missouri; six grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren. Each one will be remembering their grandmother as a special person.
Family members and friends will remark the kitchen table was the hub of the farm life with many happy memories. Many would give the following tribute to Edna describing a woman with a good heart. Edna was a gracious lady with a ready sense of humor. She will be missed by her family and a host of wonderful friends.
Services were at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, August 3, 2002, in Elliott-Gentry Funeral Chapel with Rev. Bill Vandivort officiating. Burial was in Bado Cemetery under the direction of Elliott-Gentry Funeral Home of Cabool
Monroe Coats, son of James and Emily Coats, deceased, was born in Lundy, Texas county, Missouri, on February 9, 1863 and passed away Monday, January 9, 1939 in Houston at the age of 75 years and eleven months. He spent most of his life in Texas county, having resided in Kansas a few years. He was married to Anna James on November 19, 1891. To this union eight children were born of which six survived him, Claude having died in infancy and Arthur passed away at the age of 25. The immediate relatives who survive him are his wife Anna Coats of the home, Edd Coats, Clen Coats and Mrs. Alta Payne all of Miami, Oklahoma; Clyde Coats of Kinsley, Kansas, Mrs. Bessie Crawford of Bado and Oscar Coats of Houston, also two brothers and sisters and fifteen grandchildren.
Mr. Coats joined the Union church at an early age and served as Sunday school superintendent many years and served on the board as deacon.
Funeral services were conducted at the Union Baptist church by the Rev. J. R. Halbrook, pastor of Houston Baptist church under direction of the Elliott Funeral home.
Edward Coats, son of Mr. and Mrs. Monroe Coats, was born at Bado, Mo., August 21, 1894, and passed away at his home in Miami, Oklahoma, January 24, 1945.; making his age at time of death 50 years, 5 months and 3 days.
On December 23, 1913, He was united in marriage to Essie Ray Stanislaus at Lundy, Mo. They soon moved to Oklahoma, where they have made their home for the last 30 years. To this union seven children were born, two of whom have preceded him in death, Edward Estel and Peggy Sue. The children who survive him are: Mrs. Mildred Moulton, Neosho, Kansas; Mrs. Mabel Ross, Wichita, Kansas; Mrs. Virginia Lee Coats, of the home; Pvt. Gail Coats and Sgt. Leon C. Coats, who are in the service.
He is also survived by his aged mother, Mrs. Monroe coats, of Houston, Mo.; and two sisters, Mrs. Homer Crawford of Houston, Mo., and Mrs Alta Spince, of Joplin, Mo.; three brothers: Oscar Coats, of Houston, Mo.; Clem Coats, of Miami, Oklahoma and Clyde Coats, who is in the service.
Funeral services were held at the Union Church Friday, January 25th and were conducted by the Rev. J. J. Carty.
The song service was furnished by Mr. and Mrs. Mansel Coats, Edwin and Lynn Francis, with very beautiful and appropriate songs. The pallbearers were: Oscar Coats, Clem Coats, Homer Crawford, Emmett Stepp, Oval Stanislaus and Alva Hood. Burial in the Upton (Union) cemetery under the direction of the Elliott funeral Home, of Houston, Mo.
Oscar Coats, 79, son of the late Monroe and Annie (James) Coats, was born near Houston Dec. 15, 1896 and died Dec. 31, 1975 in St. John's Hospital in Springfield, Mo., after a lengthy illness. He was united in marriage to Mabel Huff on Dec. 7, 1920. To this union two daughters were born, Beverly Royal and Nadine McDonald. He was preceded in death by his wife and daughter, Nadine. On May 6, 1956, he was united in marriage to Ada Eidson. Mr. Coats (or Os, as he was usually called) retired from the barber business after 44 years. He was a past Master of the Texas Lodge # 177 and received his 50 year pin several years ago. He was a member of the Union Baptist Church.
Survivors are his wife, Ada; one daughter, Beverly Royal of Columbus Ind.,; two sisters, Bessie Crawford of Houston and Alta Hauck of Oregon City, Ore.; one brother, Clyde coats of Seymour, Mo. and three granddaughters and one grandson. Funeral services were held Saturday, Jan 3, 1976 in the United Methodist church with the Rev. Robert Moger officiating. Masonic rites were given by the Texas Lodge # 177. Burial was in the Pinelawn Cemetery under the direction of Klingner Mortuary.
