JOHN HENRY COATS
& Family

Photos & Obits contributed by Marguerette Powell

John Henry Coats son of James and Alice Coats was born near Houston in Texas County on Nov. 1, 1903 and departed this life suddenly on October 20, 1961 at the age of 57 years 11 months and 20 days. He was a farmer by trade but his work was very limited due to ill health that he had been in for many years. When a young man he made a profession of faith in Christ.

Those left to mourn his passing are his loving companion Georgia, one daughter, Betty Lou of the home. Two sons, John Jr. and James both of Dodge City, Kans,; two sisters, Myrtle Timmerman and Lillie Dove both of Cabool, three grandchildren, also one sister in law, neices and nephews and many other relatives and friends.

They meet tonight, the one who closed his eyes unto the pain forever and the woe. And the one who found the mansions in the skies. In all their splendor long years ago.

What will they say when first their eyes shall meet? Or will a silence take the place of words as only saints will know. How strangely sweet a rapture such as only Heaven affords, will they who went before ask first for those left far behind whom they loved so well.

Or will the other near to heaven repose, question of all its meaning. Who can tell. Services were held at 2:30 Sunday in the Elliott-Gentry Funeral home with C. R. Barrick officiating.

Burial was in the Cabool cemetery.

Most of her life was spent in the Cabool area where she was a well known person and helpful to others. Her parents and four brothers have also preceded her in departure.

She leaves a daughter, Betty Lou of the home in Cabool; a sister, Mrs. Johnsie Dean, Fayetteville, Arkanss; and many other relatives and friends. Services were 2 p.m. saturday, June 12, in Elliott-Gentry Chapel with Rev. K. A. Bolerjack officiating.
