Jerry Wayne Montgomery, 74, of Shelbyville, former head instructor of Commercial Dirivers Institute of Murfreesboro, died Monday Nov. 11, 1002. A Petersburg native, he was a member of the Church of Christ. American Legion, V.F.W. and a graduate of the Morgan school for Boys in Petersburg. He attended Tennessee Tech and was a veteran of the U. S. Army, having served in World War II, 101st Airborne. He was the son of the late Fred M. and Wilma (Hart) Montgomery.
Survivors include a son, Charlie James Montgomery of McMinnville; daughter, Judy Ann Mangus of Port St. Richie, Fla.; brother, Bill Montgomery of Oak Ridge; caregiver, Betty Menck of Shelbyville; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held Sunday at Hillcrest Funeral Home with Ed Boggess officiating. Interment was in Old Orchard Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Hospic of Highland Rim. Hillcrest Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
