Hades

Later in the game (Disc 4) you have the opportunity to forge some of the most incredible items in the game. First though, you must fight the second most powerful monster (after Ozma, another Side Quest) in the game. This is Hades.

Hades is in Memoria, in the room where Quina thinks there's water. Search among the coral on the right side of the screen for a '!'. An voice will warn you. Persist in wanting too, and you'll get the chance to fight Hades.

Hades is a very hard enemy, and you must prepare for this battle. Everyone must be at a high level, and equip useful abilities like Auto-Regen and Auto-Life, and equip abilities that prevent statuses, to help prevent the effect of the Curse attack. I would bring in Zidane, Vivi, Garnet, and Steiner. Try to Equip Zidane and Steiner with Auto-Haste and High Tide so they can attack quickly, and trance faster. Give Vivi and Dagger Half MP, and give Vivi Reflect x2 and give Dagger Boost and Auto-Reflect. Give Zidane the Ultima Weapon and Steiner the Ragnarok. If you can, equip Zidane with Mug, because Hades has many wonderful items to steal.

Hades starts out by casting Curse, which causes many status effects (unless you prepared carefully.) Dagger should summon Bahamut (or cast Reflect if Auto-Reflect isn't equipped,) Vivi should cast Flare and bounce it off of Dagger, Steiner should use Shock, and Zidane should Mug him/.

Have Dagger keep attacking him, but be a medic when necessary. Try to defeat him quickly, because after about 9 rounds, he will cast Doomsday, healing him and causing major damage to the party.

Other things you could try are switching Dagger with Quina or Eiko. Quina can use Angel Snack to cure the Statuses, and Eiko can heal and summon Madeen (which does a LOT of damage.)

After beating him he'll open up a synthesis shop.
