The Care Bears and the Big Sneeze

Since I'm Take Care Bear, on all Care Bear related message boards, I thought I'd do something special. I finally got my "paws" on the book "The Care Bears and the Big Sneeze" the only Care Bear related item that mentions Take Care Bear. I thought I'd scan the pages so that everyone can see it. I hope you enjoy... I know I enjoyed reading it. I did have a minor disappointment though.. It never says whether Take Care Bear is a boy or girl, so I guess it really is left up to the imagination.

A Coloring book from the 1987 given out with Triaminic children's medicine. I have scanned the pages below for your enjoyment. The book is hard to find, and I know for a fact that I am the first person to scan all the pages for a website. Please do not take these for your own site. Feel free to print them out, and color them yourself or let your kids color them, but do not take these for your own site.. I try to be as original as possible with my site.. you should too. No, I have no way of enforcing this, and trust me, I don't have the time to do so. I'm simply asking nicely that you do not take them for your own site. Thanks.

The Book is published by Random House New York. (C) 1987 Those Characters from Cleveland. It is written by Peggy Kahn, and Illustrated by Barb Henry.

Click on images to see the larger image. You can print out and color, although the images are yellowed. I hope to take them to the library and make copies there, that will be better (not yellowed), but until I have time to do that.. these will have to do.

The Care Bears live high above the clouds in Care-A-Lot, where the weather is always perfect. They slide down rainbows and swing on stars.

Page 6

Some of the Care Bears rode sleds down a hill. Whee!

Grumpy Bear tried skiing

Page 7

"I'd love to make a snowman," said Love-A-Lot Bear.

The Care Bears started rolling two snowballs for the snowman's head and body. Then they gave the snowman eyes and a mouth.

Page 8

"I really wish he could see and talk," sighed Wish Bear

Page 9

"Here's a carrot for the nose," said Take Care Bear.

But just as Take Care put the nose in place, the bears heard a loud kerchoo!

Page 10

They looked around. Who sneezed? Was it the snowman?

Page 11

"Maybe our snowman is catching a cold," said Take Care Bear. "He isn't dressed for the weather. Getting chilled or overtired gives cold germs a chance to take over."

Page 12

The Care Bears tied a scarf around the snowman's neck and put a hat on his head and mittens on his hands

Page 13

Kerchoo!

Now the Care Bears were certain their snowman had a cold.

"I wish he could cover his face with his hand or a tissue when he sneezes," said Wish Bear. "We don't want to catch his cold."

Page 14

"I'll ask Grams Bear for a bowl of soup for our snowman," said Take Care Bear. "That should warm him up."

Page 15

"Oh no, you won't!" said the snowman to the Care Bear's surprise. "Hot soup is good for kids but not for me. Snowmen usually don't talk, and they never catch colds."

Page 16

Kerchoo!

"Look behind that pine tree," said the snowman. "That's where the sneezes are coming from."

Page 17

Baby Hugs and Baby Tugs were having a tea party in a mound of snow. They had taken off their hats and mittens.

Page 18

Kerchoo! Kerchoo!

"It's back to Care-A-Lot for both of you," said Take Care. "You need to rest in a warm, dry bed."

Page 19

"Not now!" begged the Baby Care Bears. "It's fun to play in the snow."

"Our family's friend, the doctor, says you should never play around with a cold, warned Take Care.

Page 20

And so Take Care and the Baby Care Bears went up, up, up. All the way to Care-A-Lot

Page 21

Grams Bear bundled the Baby Care Bears into their beds and made sure they drank lots of liquids in throw a way cups.

Page 22

"The doctor says medicine is good for colds" said Grams. "I even take it myself when I have a cold."

Page 23

Baby Tugs and Baby Hugs took a tip from Take Care Bear. They blew their noses gently, using both nostrils at the same time.

Page 24

The other Care Bears sent them presents and cards. One even said..

Don't ever keep an earache or sore throat secret! Get well soon! Secret Bear

Page 25

In a few days the Baby Care Bears were better. "It's lucky that none of us caught their colds," said Good Luck Bear.

"It's more than luck" said Take Care. "We wash our hands often so we don't carry germs to our eyes, nose and mouth."

Page 26

"We never share the same glass or straw," said Share Bear.

"And we use soft tissues, not yucky, damp hankies" said Funshine.

The Care Bears hope you do the same things to keep colds from spoiling your fun.

FYI: "yucky" is spelled "yukky" in the book. I have never seen it spelled that way, and even my spell checker says it's wrong, therefore, I am typing it as yucky. It's not the only typo in the book, there is also one in the copyright information.
