Even though these hubs were not just a simple direct bolt on,
with just a few extra parts it was pretty easy to get these to fit.
The spline and bolt pattern of the hubs were exactly the same as a Jimny, but the position
of the c-clip which holds the axle in place was different.
On a Jimny as soon as you take off the cover to the hub (as in the
picture above) you can see the c-clip holding the axle from pulling out.
On an Escudo you have to take off the whole hub before you can get to
the c-clip. This causes a problem because when you put the Jimny hubs
on the c-clip gets in the way and rubs against the hub. The solution was
to use a bolt and big washer on the end of the axle to hold it from pulling
out. For some reason the axle already had a screw hole on the end of it,
which made things very easy. I think the bolt and washer pictured above
is from a Toyota Surf. Some Toyota Surfs use the same system to keep
axles from pulling out, but I'm not sure which ones. Simply just leave
the c-clip off and use the washer and bolt instead of the c-clip. I'm
not really sure if this is the best thing to do, but everything seems to
be ok for now.
