2.0 Command Systems
-Main Bridge-
The Main Bridge, located in the middle of the Saucer Module, provides primary operational control of the Camelot. The Main Bridge directly supervises all primary mission operations and coordinates most departmental activities.
The central area of the Main Bridge provides seating and information displays for the commander and two other officers. Directly fore of the command area are the Operations Manager and the Flight Control Officer (Ops and CONN), both of whom face the main viewer and share a combined instrumentation panel. Directly aft of the command area is an elevated platform, with small side platforms for specific weapons and\or other officers, on which is located the tactical control station. Located to the right of this is the Main Science console, and to the left is the Engineering Console. Behind tactical is Environmental and Mission-configurable stations.
At the very front of the bridge chamber is located a large (5.3 x 2.6 meter) visual display panel. This main viewer is generally used to display the output of one of the forward optical holocams, but can be reset for other informational use. When in communications mode, the main viewer shares the use of a dedicated processor node, which permits near-instantaneous conversion and display of any visual communications format. The main viewer display matrix includes omni-holographic scanners and display elements and is thus capable of using holo-communications.
Behind the aft workstations is a 3-meter equipment bay, normally sealed to crew personnel. This equipment bay houses five of the 9 dedicated bridge computer bioneural and nanocomputer processors, and 7 of the 12 shared processors. Also located in this equipment bay are several power, environmental and optical data trunk connects. The remaining computer processors are located in smaller bays integral to the aft stations, in the bays port and starboard of the command area, and in the deck structure between CONN and OPS.
Other facilities located on the bridge component include the captain's ready room, the aft observation lounge, and the crew quarters adjoining the bridge itself. Both the bridge and captains ready room are equipped with food replication terminals. Major connects to the bridge include two standard turbolifts; one emergency turboshaft, three Jeffries-tube junctions and 6 EPS power distribution waveguide conduits. Additional connects include environmental support groups, nine primary and two backup optical data network trunks, two replicator waveguides, and one direct video feed to Main Engineering.
The Main Bridge module is connected to the spaceframe structure with a series of 320.3cm carbotanium fastening rods. These fasteners are disengaged during separation or at major starbase layovers, permitting disconnect and replacement of the entire bridge module, or allowing disconnection and escape for the bridge module. Torsion relief and vibration dampening are provided by a series of 14mm microfoamed tetroburnium rigid gaskets, which form the mechanical interface between the structures. The Main Bridge shell is constructed from an interlaced microfoam tritanium filament shell gamma-welded to a cortanium truss framework. The inner environment envelope is fabricated from high-density expanded carbon-carbon composite segments, providing both atmospheric integrity and thermal insulation.
