3.0 Computer Systems

The main computer system of the Camelot is probably the most important operational element of the starship, next to the crew. The computer is directly analogous to the autonomic nervous system of a living being; indeed, it is almost half biologically based. It is responsible in some way for the operation of practically every other system on the ship.

Crew interface for the main computer is provided by the Library Computer Access and Retrieval System, normally abbreviated LCARS. LCARS provides for both keyboard and auditory commands, incorporating advanced artificial intelligence routines and graphic display organization for maximum user-friendliness.
