4.7 Power Transfer Conduits
As the engine system undergoes startup, the plasma is split into four streams at angles to the ships centerline. The power transfer conduits are magnetically similar to the constriction segments, in that they contain the plasma to the center of each channel and peristaltically force the plasma to the nacelles, where the field coils utilize the energy for propulsion.
The PTC channels extend from Engineering fore and aft, where the intercept the warp engine support pylons. Each channel is fabricated from fifteen alternating layers of machined carbotanium borosilicate and titanium alloy, which are phase-transition welded to produce a single pressure-resistant structure. The interfaces with the reaction chamber are equipped with explosive joints, allowing separation within .12 seconds in the event that the quantite core must be jettisoned.
-Targanide Accelerator- Located at the beginning of either PTC is a chunk of machined Targanide crystal; the crystal has the ability to channel and amplify the EPS energy used by the warp engines by 18%
