11.6 Anaphasic Pulse Cannon operations
Anaphasic plasma pulse cannons, also known as phasic pulsers, are considered by many to be a throwback to plasma weapon technology; however, this is a misunderstanding. Anaphasic energy is a highly disruptive energy form that requires a plasma base into order to maintain its coherency. Hence why some believe it to be merely a new plasma weapon. In fact, the plasma is just like a bonus. Phasic pulser`s primary advantage over phasers and teryon beams is that they are highly disruptive to known energy technologies. Anaphasic radiation backtravels along shield grids and enters the EPS system of starships, where it causes conduit erosion, power fluctuations and even random discharges. Of course, if the attacker doesn't use EPS for power transmission, the weapon is next to worthless. The energy is also capable of disrupting the electron-transfer process within the mitochondria of living beings.
Upon receiving the command to fire, the EPS submaster flow regulator manages the energetic plasma powering the cannon through a series of physical irises and magnetic switching gates. Iris response is 0.01 seconds and is used for gross adjustments in plasma distribution; magnetic gate response is .0003 seconds and is employed for rapid fine-tuning of plasma routing within small sections of the magnetic field generator. Normal control of all irises and gates is affected through the autonomic side of the phasic function command processor. The regulator is manufactured from combined crystalline quartz, solenogyn and geonite alloy.
The plasma is then transferred to the emitter crystal, a 2 meter long solid cylinder of precision-machined diamond crystal with regular 'impurities' of argon, hydrogen peroxide and radium. The plasma excites the crystal, which in turn emits a massive burst of multifrequency Anaphasic energy. Later on Kreigerium crystalline mirrors focus and reflect the pulse into a coherent phasic energy pulse.
