The Ferengi Alliance

Once considered enemies of the Federation, they have since become the largest neutral power in the Alpha Quadrant.

2355 - the USS Stargazer, under the command of Captain Jean-Luc Picard, was attacked by an unidentified vessel while in the Maxia Zeta Star System. The Stargazer was criticaly damaged, but Captain Picard was able to destroy the attacker by jumping into and out of warp, and firing a full phaser and photon torpedo spread. This later became known as the Picard Maneuver. The Stargazer crew was forced to evacuate in shuttles and escape pods.

During the Cardassian Occupation of Bajor, the Ferengi Quark, along with his brother Rom and nephew Nog, opened a bar and casino on Terok Nor, the ore station in orbit of Bajor.

Stardate 41153.7 - Captain Picard of the USS Enterprise-D briefly thought that the Bandii of Deneb IV would turn Farpoint Station over to the Ferengi.

Stardate 41386.4 - while pursuing a Ferengi vessel responsible for stealing a T-9 energy converter, the Enterprise-D came into orbit of an desolate planet. Both the Enterprise-D and the Ferengi ship were drained of power by the planet. Both ships sent down Away Teams, but the Ferengi attacked Commander William Riker and his officers, and decided to blame the humans for being the attackers when they returned to their ship. A long-dormant Portal of the Tkon Empire, however, became active and challanged both teams. Impressed with Riker's knowledge and wisdom, Portal released both ships.

Stardate 41723.9 - DaiMon Bok returned the Stargazer to Picard. But, his plan was to prove that Picard had caused caused the battle in Maxia Zeta, which resulted in the loss of Bok's son, who was in command of the Ferengi ship. When Bok's First Officer Kazago discovered that the his captain was acting out of revenge instead of the pursuit of profit, he relieved Bok of command.

Stardate 42923.4 - the Ferengi interfered with a battle simulation being conducted by the USS Enterprise-D and the Constellation-class USS Hathaway.

Stardate 43385.6 - the Ferengi were uninvited guests at the negotiations for the Barzan wormhole. The wormhole was believed to be a stable passage to the Delta Quadrant. Two shuttles, one from the Enterprise-D the other from the Ferengi, entered the wormhole, and discovered it was unstable. The two Ferengi refused to believe the Starfleet officers, and became stranded in the Delta Quadrant.

Stardate 43930.7 - after attending a trade conference on Betazed, Ferengi DaiMon Tog kidnapped Ambassador Lwaxana Troi, Commander William Riker and Counselor Deanna Troi from Betazed. Tog wanted to employ Lwaxana Troi's empathic abilities in his business negotiations, since the Ferengi's four-lobe brains are immune to Betazed telepathy.

Stardate 45245.8 - Commander Riker, while in command of the Enterprise-D, found that a Ferengi trader was assisting the Romulans in the theft of Vulcan ships from Federation shipyards.

Stardate 45761.3 - two Ferengi rescued by the Enterprise-D were responsible for the attack of the Briam ambassador when he refused a bribe for Kamala, a telepath taught to fulfill men's fantasies.

Stardate 46235.7 - rogue Ferengi attacked the Enterprise-D using stolen Klingon Birds of Prey. The Ferengi were able to take control of the Enterprise-D, but, due to a previous accident, Picard, Ro Laren, Keiko O'Brien and Guinan could pass as children, along with Lieutenant Worf's son Alexander, and incapacitate the Ferengi on the ship.

Stardate 46379 - after Starfleet took over the administration of the abandoned Cardassian station, renamed Deep Space Nine, Commander Benjamin Sisko used Nog's imprisonment to bribe Quark to remain on the station as a community leader.

Quark played an instrumental role during first contact with Falow, Master Surchid of the Wadi. Falow and his people represented the first formal contact with a race from the Gamma Quadrant.

Shortly after the Wadi delegation "moved along home" and returned to the Gamma Quadrant, Grand Nagus Zek of the Ferengi held a conference aboard Deep Space Nine to announce business oppurtunities in the Gamma Quadrant, and to name Quark as his successor. Zek then went on to fake his own death, to test Krax, his nephew. Zek determined that Krax failed the test miserably, and returned to his postion as Grand Nagus of the Ferengi.

Stardate 46830.1 - Doctor Reyga, a Ferengi scientist, was invited to the Enterprise-D by Doctor Beverly Crusher to demonstrate his multi-phasic shield, which could protect a starship inside a star's corona. The Ferengi scientist was murdered during the initial demonstration, and Doctor Crusher was forced to investigate his death against orders.

A year after he left, Grand Nagus Zek returned to Deep Space Nine. He wanted Quark to represent Ferengi interests in negotiations with the Dosi for tulaberries. The negotiations were a ruse, however, to make contact with the Dominion of the Gamma Quadrant. Quark was assisted during the negotiations by Pel, a Ferengi woman disguised as a male waiter.

After the Demilitarized Zone was formed between the Federation and the Cardassian Union, the Maqui rebels approached Quark hoping he could supply them with the weapons' systems they would need to fight the Cardassians.

Stardate 47310.2 - DaiMon Prak commanded a Ferengi Marauder that was disabled by Hekaran scientists while traveling through an unstable section of space known as the Hekaras Corridor. The scientists believed that warp drive was damaging the fabric of space, especially in their region. The Federation Council looked over their research, and decided that a warp speed limit would be set for all Federation ships.

Quark, under Zek's orders, accompanied Commander Sisko on the Defiant when the Federation decided to make formal contact with the Founders of the Dominion. Sisko was able to use Quark's contact with the Karemma to find a subspace relay station where reports were sent to the Vorta representatives.

Stardate 47829.1 - DaiMon Bok returned to torment Captain Picard, claiming that he had found a son Picard had never known he had. Bok planned to kill Jason Vigo, the son of one of Picard's former lovers. The Enterprise-D went to Camor V, and brought Jason aboard. After several days, and threatening messages from Bok, a test of Jason's DNA revealed that it had been altered to appear similiar to Picard's. When Picard reveals this to Bok's crew, they reject his leadership, as his previous crew had six years before.

Stardate 48521.5 - after completing the Ferengi Attainment Ceremony, Nog picked Commander Sisko to be his role model, and attempted to buy his way into Starfleet.

Grand Nagus Zek returned to Deep Space Nine after using an orb that had been taken by the Cardassiasns to make contact with the Prophets in the Celestial Temple. The Prophets found him to be too greedy, and reverted him to a mindset that made him more generous. Under that influence, Zek rewrote the Rules of Acquisition, the Ferengi code of business conduct. But, Quark used the same orb, and spoke with the Prophets and convinced them to change Zek back to the way he was. Afterward, Grand Nagus Zek sold the orb back to the Bajorans.

Ishka, Quark and Rom's mother, became one of the first Ferengi women to earn profit. Brunt of the Ferengi Commerce Authority charged Quark with violating Ferengi Trade Bylaws, subsection 1027, paragraph 3, the improper supervision of a family member. Quark and Rom return to Ferenginar to extract a confession from Ishka. She refused, and Quark was forced to look into her financial records, and found that his mother had made a small fortune. Rom convinced the other two that they had to make Brunt happy, so half of the money was turned over to the FCA, and Ishka continued her business dealings after her sons left for Deep Space Nine.

A few weeks later, Nog failed the Starfleet Academy entrance exam. Rom checked the holosuite records, and found that Quark had tampered with the program. Nog was able to retake the test, without interferance and passed.

Quark used his new shuttle, Quark's Treasure, on a test flight to Earth, with Nog and Rom onboard. The adults decided to take Nog to Starfleet Academy personally. However, a deliberate malfunction caused the shuttle to travel backward in time, and the three crashlanded in Roswell, New Mexico, circa 1947.

Stardate 49263.5 - the Dominion did not want direct trade with the Federation, so the Ferengi were being used as a go-between for the Karemma and the UFP. But, as Commander Sisko discovered, the Ferengi were adding high tariffs to gain profit, which jeopordized the trade agreement.

A few weeks later, Rom organized the Guild of Restaurant and Casino Employees, a union of Quark's Dabo girls and Ferengi waiters. This again attracted the interest of Brunt of the FCA. The union went on strike until their demands are met. Commander Sisko was forced to intervene, and the dispute was settled. However, Rom decided not to return to his job after the strike, instead he joined the station crew as a maintenance technician.

After breaking a contract to sell his vacuum-sealed remains, Quark's Ferengi busines license was revoked by Brunt of the FCA.

For his second year of training, Cadet Nog returned to the station for field training in station operations and security.

Gaila, Quark and Rom's cousin, came to the station to include Quark in his weapons' dealing business, despite the FCA ban. Because he was so deep in debt, he was unable to refuse. However, Captain Sisko and Major Kira found out about his business arrangements, and forced a boycott on his bar. Quark was able to get out of debt, but his guilt forced him to quit the business of selling weapons.

Depressed after hearing that Rom was engaged to Leeta the Dabo girl, Quark returned to Ferenginar to visit his mother. Once there, he found that she had started a romantic relationship with Grand Nagus Zek, and was also giving him financial advice. Brunt bribed Quark with the prospect of reinstating his business license if he split the couple up. Quark complied, which quickly exposed Zek's failing memory. Before returning to the station, Quark made amends and reunited Zek with Ishka. Brunt allowed Quark to keep his license, to have an excuse to keep an eye on him.

Stardate 50975.2 - Technician Rom assisted Science Officer Jadzia Dax and Engineering Chief Miles O'Brien in developing the cloaked, self-replicating mine field used to block the entrance to the wormhole to stop Dominion convoys from entering the Alpha Quadrant. While the mine field was deployed, Cadet Nog manned the engineering controls in Ops while the station was under attack by the Dominion. When Starfleet and the Klingson evacuated the station, Nog left with the Defiant crew while Rom remained behind as a spy for the Federation. Quark retained his position as head of the Promenade Merchants' Association, which made him part of the official greeting party for Gul Dukat, Glinn Damar and Dominion Ambassador Weyoun when they boarded the station, and renamed it Terok Nor.

Stardate 51145.3 - Rom instigated a barroom brawl between the Cardassian and Jem'Hadar troops by leaving a PADD with Glinn Damar's suggestion that the Jem'Hadar be poisoned before the supply of ketracel white runs out. The PADD was picked out of Damar's pocket, and left outside the Jem'Hadar barracks on Terok Nor.

Damar, who received a promotion to gul for coming up with the plan to take down the minefield, arrested Rom when he set off the security system while trying to sabotage the station's deflector. Damar also arrested Major Kira, Leeta, and Jake Sisko, thinking that they were Rom's accomplises. Quark and Tora Ziyal, Dukat's half-Bajoran daughter, broke their friends out of the holding cells, so that they could assist the Federation task force that was coming to retake the station from the Dominion.

Shortly before the Defiant led the battle to retake Deep Space Nine, Cadet Nog recieved a field promotion to the rank of ensign, becoming the first Ferengi Starfleet officer.

Quark, Rom, Nog, and Brunt, along with Gaila and Leck, took the Vorta Keevan to the abandoned station Empok Nor for an exchange with the Dominion for Ishka, who had been taken prisoner while returning to Ferenginar from Vulcan.

Stardate 51825.4 - while attempting to deliver an alliance proposal from the Federation to Grand Nagus Zek, the runabout Ensign Nog & Jake Sisko were on came under Dominion attack. The two were rescued by Red Squad Captain Tim Watters of the Defiant-class Valiant. Due to his experience with Chief O'Brien, Nog was promoted by Captain Watters to the rank of lieutenant commander, and Chief Engineer of the Valiant. The Valiant was destroyed shortly thereafter by a Jem'Hadar Battle Cruiser, and Jake, Nog and Cadet Collins were the only survivors.

After adding an amendment to the Ferengi Bill of Oppurtunites giving females the right to wear clothing, Zek was deposed as Grand Nagus of the Ferengi. Brunt of the FCA was named as the Acting Grand Nagus in his place. Zek and Ishka came to the station, so that they could bring a prominent Ferengi businessman, Nilva, to the station, as well. Once there, Ishka would demonstrate how intelligent Ferengi women could be. Quark, however, caused Ishka to have a heart attack during an argument. So, since Quark caused, Doctor Bashir temporarily changes Quark into a female, Lumba, so Nilva would still be impressed. The plan is a success, and Zek & Ishka return to Ferenginar so he could be reinstated as Grand Nagus.

Quark accompanied the crew of the Defiant to the Chin'toka system while making a supply run to AR-558, to deliver a first-hand report on the war effort to Grand Nagus Zek.

Grand Nagus Zek attempted to begin trade relations with the Mirror Universe; a universe in which Terrans and Vulcans are slaves, and the Klingon - Cardassian Alliance rules. Regent Worf wanted a cloaking device, and Ezri Tigan delivered a message from Zek to Quark that he has to deliver one, or Zek would be killed. Quark and Rom stole the cloaking device from General Martok's IKS Rotarran, and took it to the Mirror Universe. The Terran Resistance, led by 'Smiley' O'Brien and Julian Bashir, captured Ezri, Quark & Rom, but Brunt helped them to escape. Once aboard Regent Worf's flagship, Rom had to help install the cloaking device. He managed to sabotage the device, causing a ship-wide system failure when the ship dropped it's cloak to attack the Terran's Defiant. The Terrans won the battle and took Regent Worf and Intendent Kira prisoner. Upon returning to the station, O'Brien promised that the three Ferengi could return to their own universe.

Stardate 52861.3 - Grand Nagus Zek and Ishka once again came to the station. This time, it was to announce Zek's retirement, and truly name his successor. Because of a garpled communications system, Quark thought that he would be named the Grand Nagus. But, due to the sweeping reforms that Ishka helped to initiate through Zek, it was decided that Rom is the better choice, and he was named Grand Nagus of the Ferengi. Quark, unable to believe his misfortune, offers to buy the bar back from Rom, but Rom gives it to him instead. Before the final battle of the Dominion War, Grand Nagus Rom and his wife, Leeta, left the station for Ferenginar.

One of Captain Benjamin Sisko's last official acts before his accension into the Celestial Temple was to put Nog in for a promotion, to the rank of lieutenant.

After the war ended, Lieutenant Nog served as Deep Space Nine's Chief of Security for a short time, but later accepted the position of Chief Engineer, since Chief O'Brien had taken his family, and returned to Earth to teach at Starfleet Academy.
