As Lieutenant Ro, Doctor Simon Tarses, and Sergeant Shul Torem began an investigation into the death of Thirishar's bondmate, Colonel Kira returned from Bajor and her visit with Kasidy Yates. Though Gul Macet continued to push for peace with, and help from, the Bajorans, Kira is unable to persude the Council of Ministers to continue the talks Ambassador Lang began.
The Shuttlecraft Sagan was in the midst of a survey mission of the Oort cloud in System GQ-12475, when an alien structure rotating on an interdimensional axis. As Lieutenants Dax & Nog and Doctor Julian Bashir scan the structure, searching for answers, their shuttle lost power and passed through the dimensional wake of the structure.
On Bajor, Vedek Yevir contemplates his position within his own culture, and how his influence could be used to restart the peace talks with Cardassia. As pressure builds, the path he chooses to take leads him to a counterpart on an enemy world.
In the Gamma Quadrant, the crew of the Defiant is caught between two alien races - one that must defend the structure in the Oort cloud, and the other trying to access it - even as three of their own begin to feel the effects of the cathedral...
