Mysteries

It all began when I was working in Sickbay, and Ambassador Serecke, the Vulcan Ambassador to DS14 was transported in, as an emergency patient. While he was being attended to, three Romulans under heavy guard were also transported in. Their ship had crash landed on the planet.

Ambassador Serecke had returned from a conference, but had made enemies. It transpired that he had been poisoned by the Romulans who were sharing Sickbay with him. When he realised the Romulans were in the same room having treatment, the Ambassador asked me to help him escape. As we left Sickbay and entered a Turbolift, the Ambassador saw that somehow, even though the Romulans were in Sickbay, they were also in the passage way, heading for our Turbolift!

The Turbolift dropped, but as it did so, the Ambassador gave me a neck pinch, and formed a mind meld with me. From that moment on, I was joined telepathically to the Ambassador. When I came round, the Ambassador was gone. Through an ingenious method of deduction, I was able to establish that the Ambassador had been abducted. I eventually found him in the Park. We transported back to Sickbay, so that the Ambassador could receive more treatment. The guard around the Vulcan's bed was even heavier.

Doctor Valt was performing an operation, and I was asked to take notes at a Bridge Officers meeting. While we were there, news came through that the Executive Officer to the station, Sol'ar Keen and the Cardassian Representative, Rakh Eldet, had gone missing. Commander Drake, Commander of the station, promised to step up security, and I left with Ambassador Serecke. He informed me we had not managed to remove the poison from his system. On the way back, the three Romulans returned to finish the job they had started.

The two of us materialised on board a Deridex starship, and a female Romulan Captain introduced herself as Sela. We were escorted into a large conference room. There was a large table in the centre. A few other Romulans were already seated at the table. Also seated were the Cardassian Rakh Eldet and Bajoran Executive Officer Sol'ar Keen. They were both cut, battered and bruised. As I turned back to Serecke, a Romulan injected a hypospray into the Vulcan's neck. He had been given a temporary serum to counteract the effects of the poison. Sela explained to us what had been going on.

Three weeks earlier, she had been approached by Porkath, Meltith and Corash, the three Romulans who "accidentally" crash landed on Altor II. They told her they were from the 27th Century, and were the final three surviving Romulans after a long and bitter war with the Dominion. The Romulan Empire had been destroyed, and all was lost. She was amazed and skeptical, at first, but they were able to transport her to the future briefly, and there she saw they were telling the truth. Sela felt it was her duty to prevent this happening and wished to change the present. Five days from that day, Ambassadors Serecke and Eldet would attend a conference deep in the Gamma quadrant. Sol'ar would also be in attendance. Unfortunately at the conference, the three would make friends with the hosts. They would set in motion events which, in thirteen years, would lead to a second war between the Gamma quadrant and the Alpha quadrant. The war would be more brutal and long lasting than the last. 155 years to be exact. Little would be left. The Romulans would hang by a thread, the Cardassians would contract horrific diseases which destroyed their own race. The Klingons would fly round the quadrants destroying anything that moved, in their paranoid attempts to destroy shapeshifters. The Federation crumbled from within. The Borg would assimilate anyone left, with the Klingons being the last empire to fall in 2646. The Romulans, therefore arranged a crash landing on the planet, to try to kill those who would attend the conference in the next few days. And what did I have to do with this? Serecke mind melded with me, and they didn't want him to send messages psychically via myself to the station to mount any rescue attempt.

Sela would not allow anyone to escape. Now, we knew the future! The unbelievable fiend had just told us what would happen. She was going to execute us. After she and her goons had gone, leaving four guards to watch us, we made an escape plan. The Romulans had not considered me dangerous enough to remove my belongings, and I still had some chemical vials on me. I mixed together three compounds which poisoned the air to Romulans, Vulcans and Bajorans. This spread rapidly through the ship and rendered the Romulans, Serecke and Sol'ar unconcious.

Eldet and I left the room, to find one of the time travelling Romulans outside. He transformed into a Founder, and told us he would go and fetch the serum to bring round Serecke and Sol'ar. We would rendezvous on the Bridge of the Deridex. We did this by site to site transport, fearing a trap. However, it wasn't. We were joined on the Bridge by Corash the Founder/Romulan, and now fully concious Serecke and Sol'ar. We reckoned without Sela, who regained conciousness in time to shoot the Founder with her disruptor. We transported back to DS14.

While we were there, we made new plans. Eldet was just glad to be home and left. The rest of us decided we would transport the Romulans to holding cells on DS14, apart from Sela and the two remaining time travellers. We then transported back onto the Warbird. We then used a device to transport six days into the future. Armed with a warning of what was to come, we arrived at the conference on Borvator 3 and were greeted by the Gungonoughts. These are a strange race, who speak without using pronouns. Sela tried to shoot me, but Commander Sol'ar was able to take her down before she succeeded. Unknown to me at the time, while I was at the conference, Starfleet promoted me to Lieutenant Junior Grade, in honour of my saving Ambassador Serecke from the three Romulans who were on DS14. But I digress.

Somehow, the Gungonaughts were appeased by Ambassador Serecke, shortly before I found an antidote to his poisoning. I did this on board the USS Iron Horse which had been sent by DS14 to recover us from Borvator 3. Serecke was a hero! He was able to pursuade the Gungonaughts to establish a neutral zone, similar to that with the Romulans, between Federation and Gungonaught space. All was well that ended well, and Commander Sela ended up in the Brig!
