Les Sherman Park, sw of soccer field.

  • Botanical Name: Elaeagnus angustifolia
  • Drought Tolerant/Sun/Attracts Wildlife
  • Height & Spread: 5m x 5m
  • Form: upright oval
  • Leaf: opposite; silver; long and narrow; tend to remain in winter
  • Bark: shredding
  • Flower: yellow; inconspicuous; fragrant; June
  • Fruit: dry; silvery, oblong, olive with single seed; on short stalks
  • Problems: short lived; often winterkills
  • Use: birds eat olives; silver foilage contrasts nicely
    with green foilage of other trees
