OMG

The driver escaped from this with a minor bump on his head

How this occurred is pure speculation on my part as this happened to a vehicle in the group following mine.

The approach was flat, the Jeep going too fast and basically took off, nose dived and rolled head over tit. I assume the driver, who was following another Jeep, did not pay attention to what the vehicle in front was doing!

I quickly radioed Mark Powell's group and by the time he arrive we had recovered the Jeep upright

The mechanics amongst us set about sorting the engine out to start as it was hydraulically locked after sitting upside down for some time, and eventually after removing the plugs, cleaning the air filter and turning the engine over (spraying a few people who stood too close with oil) we managed to fire up the engine and the vehicle was driven out of the dunes to the police station at Faqa.
