On my way down to Mintirib on the Sur road we came across a village where there were several ex-military vehicles being refurbished for civilian use.
As this was the Eid holiday after Ramadan, the workshop was closed so we could not find out where the vehicles had come from, however we did see some that looked like ex-UAE (desert camouflage with a red cross painted on the doors). Oman military also use Defenders.
At Mintirib we found this interesting 110 with a Sidewinder double exhaust. I really would have loved to hear the V8 run, but again it was Eid and we were lucky to find the petrol station open.
The only other Defender we saw besides the the one on the previous page and several military vehicles was this ex-military ambulance, which would make a neat camper vehicle.
