Personal History: The identity of her Klingon father is unknown and something Kyrsa would prefer be kept that way, considering the likely circumstances of her conception. As far as she's found out, "kyrsa" is a word in an ancient Ullian dialect meaning "goddess" or "blessed woman" and Kyrsa's mother was one of 3 Ullian women aboard a transport that, according to official records, simply vanished. Kyrsa can only guess since her mother's real name was never spoken among the pirates who held them as slaves to be abused for their own amusement from a time before Kyrsa's birth until Kyrsa reached age 4. That is, Kyrsa's physical torment ended at age 4 but her mother was left with the pirates as a raid by Starfleet on a criminally rogue settlement caught Kyrsa in its net while her former captors escaped with her mother. After Starfleet & civilian offices spent a year vainly searching for possible grandparents Kyrsa was finally put into a Terran foster home that eventually adopted her in spite of her childhood tendency of beating up the human boys twice her size if just to make the smaller ones stop teasing her out of fear of a similar pummeling. As her Ullian abilities began to increase in puberty she became even more isolated & reclusive to avoid the flashes of intense or bad memories she'd pick up from other kids (& the ridicule that came with her reactions to them). Having accidentally found a more sinister & self-serving use for her psionic ability, she eventually ran away from home at age 15. Having never felt she belonged from the beginning (& perhaps feeling unworthy), Kyrsa doesn't even acknowledge the nice Chinese family that voluntarily took her in (official name they put on her adoption records is Kyrsa Kwan Li). She just deals with herself and her artificial friends, Zef & Ditz, one day at a time, abating any guilt, anxiety, or depression with fantasies of killing pirates or reunification with a mother whose face she can barely remember.
Goal(s): Her primary goals are to establish her S.S. Minerva as the primary civilian transport for the Deridious System. To do this involves immediate goals of getting rid of the pirate element and bringing mining & tourism interests into the star system. The latter may require her to invest in a few businesses on/near Deridous IV herself.

LIKES:
N/A DISLIKES: N/A LIMITATIONS: Emotionally cool facade & blunt honesty and less than sunny outlook, especially around strangers, makes her seem rude or subtly angry even when it may not be the case. Low self-esteem. Distrusting of about anyone. Self-imposed social isolation has left her lacking practice & confidence in social settings with the opposite gender & therefore tends to avoid them. Can seem bossy & arrogant on occasion, though she rarely realizes when she is being so without being told so. Hates being wrong & loathes having to say so. Despises pirates & dislikes smugglers; smugglers & pirates often being one & same, working for each other, or having same employers. May or may not be financially overextended (her accounting books are private) and thus overly eager to make her business ventures in the Deridious System show a profit. A possible double life that no one has yet perceived (see "Special Abilities"). STRENGTHS: Physical strength, craftiness, & strategic forethought. Several large bank accounts spread across several non-Federation economies (though most of it is tied up as collateral for her starship until it starts turning a reasonable profit or she can pay back several loans equal to 6,800 _bricks_ of gold-pressed latinum) and many individual or corporate investors who wish to make a profit off of Deridious IV Colony (most wishing to remain anonymous). Not easily fooled, nowhere near gullible, and can be disarming and manipulative with an almost scary subtlety. Tends to easily blend into a crowd unnoticed. SPECIAL ABILITIES: Physical strength of a human male 3 times her size/mass. Acute sense of smell. Has an Ullian's natural resistance to telepathic probes by Betazoids and many other telepathic/empathic species. (She unnervingly feels like a "blank slate" to them in comparison to humans & the like.) While many telepaths can read only a person's immediate thoughts, Kyrsa can only pluck long-lost or deliberately suppressed memories & secrets from the deepest recesses of a person's mind. However, this hardly comes with the control of a properly trained, full-blooded Ullian. It happens at random and only when she's in close proximity to a particular person or, more often, when she actively touches or accidentally brushes against someone in a crowd. Even then it's often a person's memory of their most traumatic experience or most despicable act, coming in such a sudden burst Kyrsa is often left reeling as if she just lived through the experience herself. She can delve deeper with more control but it requires a place of silent privacy & concentration with her subject & often results in potentially hazardous cranial blood pressure causing excruciating headaches, bleeding from her nose & ears, and intensely bloodshot eyes. For obvious reasons she avoids using her Ullian abilities to that extent (especially since a doctor said it could one day create an instantly fatal aneurysm). In its more casual form her psionic ability allows her a practical way to pick liars and other more shady/evil characters apart from the crowd. (She'll try shaking hands with a person she's suspicious of, but her power rarely kicks in when she really wants it to.) Although it's nowhere near being public knowledge, she's quite a blackmail artist. Sneaky & devious enough to avoid prosecution or even arrest by authorities, she exploits her special ability to extort funds, favors, and useful items out of people in exchange for her silence. This has left her a trail of many enemies & many people in debt to her, though they're not always one & the same since many owe her for the good she's done for them. She only blackmails those she thinks deserve it (even anonymously having a few arrested once she's gotten what she wants out of them), and applies herself to good when someone's particularly tragic memory accidentally hits her. All in all, within the past decade she's managed to amass an ever growing fortune, of which includes a stripped-down Miranda Class starship rescued from a scrapyard that she's since rebuilt with the aid of a discarded Mark-1 Zimmerman hologram, a seemingly dim-witted android, and a rotating roster of paid crewmen. QUIRKS: A pessimist -- always expects failure or bad fortune, any success or good luck being fleeting but all the more enjoyable when it comes, and believes such good fortune will never last & be destroyed by something twice as bad as the good was good. A seemingly inexplicable fear of physical intimacy -- doesn't like to be touched by others even in a casual manner. (Even Kyrsa herself can't explain or remember exactly why.) She only shakes hands as a formality (or sneaky means of attempting a psychic read of the other person's memories without his/her knowledge). While her the rest of her ship may be spotless her personal quarters are often in disarray with both clean & dirty clothes strewn about in piles. Holds in her ill temper rather well but will happily let it loose if she feels in the right. HOBBIES/INTERESTS: Unknown | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

S.S. MINERVA:
Civilian UFP Registry: NFT-1953-CV-3
Defenses: Formerly the U.S.S. Persephone (NCC-1953), it's now Kyrsa's personal starship, a Miranda Class that's been stripped of all of its original Starfleet weapons & many computer components. The interior now is remodeled as mostly cargo space with accomodations for 17 crew and 83 guests, the more spacious and luxurious quarters saved for the guests she hopes to carry at an extreme profit once Deridious IV takes off as a colony & possible resort location. (Even Kyrsa opts to sleep in a 3m×3m room.) Somehow she managed to acquire a pulse-fire Klingon disruptor turret & use that to replace the underside's original phaser ball turret that was removed upon Persephone's decommissioning. All that now compensates for the missing weapons array that once graced the saucer's upper-aft are two portholes cut into the saucer's forward end for firing a pair of fixed-forward high-output plasma cannons, a single upward-firing Type-V emitter fitted behind the Bridge, and 2 pairs of anti-matter warhead cruise missiles mounted directly onto the upper & lower sides of the hull. While this is antiquated and weak weaponry by standards of modern Starfleet technology this is still considered a bit much for a civilian-owned transport, especially one so maneuverable as a Miranda Class. (Kyrsa has no intention of letting pirates get the best of her.) Of course, "Captain" Kyrsa somehow has arranged all the appropriate permits for use of those weapons in self-defense or defense of other Federation vessels in distress. The Warp engine is fairly new but built from a hodge-podge of innovation & improvisation, thus on a good day the Minerva can push to Warp 8.2, on a bad day go no faster than Warp 6. The newer hi-density shielding and a few well-placed patches of extra armor plate is about all there is to be reasonably proud of. Though she can afford a full crew, she's always 2 to 6 bodies short of a full 17 and suppliments them with a service hologram rejected by Starfleet and a antiquated technical assistance android who both are likely closer friends to Kyrsa than she'll let any organic beings get. CREW:
HOLOGRAM: Starfleet's original emergency medical holographic program, Zimmerman model Mark-1, after some field use was eventually rejected as too irritable and annoying for use on starships. So as not to totally waste the resources put into their fleetwide implementation, the programs were transferred to facilities for use in tasks considered too tedious, dangerous, and back-breaking for 'live' humanoids. Zim's program was acquired in a fair trade with a Starfleet mining facility and though half of his medical database was already deleted to make room for mining expertise, he still makes a decent medic and an even better metallurgist, geologist and machinery/computer technician. Zim's personality is pretty much like any Mark-1 EMH, but if you slip and call him "Doc" or "Doctor" you're likely to get a resentful rant about holographic rights & the evils of slavery. Yet, Zim claims his uncompensated work for Kyrsa is totally voluntary since she actually treats him like a person & he actually has some authority with the crew. With himself being one of few constants among a average crew turnover of 6 months, Zim proudly claims the title of First Mate to anyone who asks and Kyrsa has yet to argue against that. His name also came from Kyrsa as well as his ability to 'wear' whatever holographic clothing he can devise, though to suit his most frequent role he often proudly walks around in a grey jumpsuit with black grease stains like an automobile mechanic. How he walks around is achieived via a fairly heavy & bulky portable holo-emitter suspended inside his holographic shell or via a set of emergency holo-emitters set up in Sickbay, Bridge, and Engineering. At a minimum Zim's "holo-pack" requires 15 minutes of recharging for every 6 hours he uses it.
ANDROID: As the name Kyrsa chose implies, Ditz is not exactly all there. Ditz is one of a kind, originally built with the unoriginal name Pinnochio by his barely competent human inventor over 7 decades ago and ever since then the android's limited isolinear memory capacity has increasingly caused the most critical bits of data to be deleted & recorded over while the most mundane, trivial facts remain. As a result Ditz appears... well, ditzy -- absent-minded, easily confused, & easily distracted. Kyrsa keeps Ditz around as a translator (built-in U.T.) and for the two or three times a week his databanks get in line and he's focused long enough to do engineering miracles with superhuman speed & efficiency. Otherwise it's usually Zim & Ditz playing out a demented Laurel&Hardy act as Ditz gets orders confused or keeps going out of the way to have Zim remind what's supposed to be done, despite the fact Kyrsa had Ditz retrofitted for a constant link with the ship's computer & commsystem. (Much to Zim's annoyance it seems the only fact that's remained stuck in Ditz is "If all else fails ask Zim".) Yet, Ditz's autonomy programs are hardwired enough that he knows of his failings and keeps working constantly to double-check the ship for any faults, working until he literally falls apart and it's up to Zim or Kyrsa's other engineers to put Ditz back together. At a glance Ditz looks like a typical teenage boy in overalls, but upon closer inspection one would see his skin is just a rubbery latex polymer & his glossy brown 'helmet' of hair is made of strands of the same stuff. He's equipped with a basic emotional interface that keeps him seeming calmly polite & pleasant, though he really feels nothing & has no intention to. As to how Kyrsa came into possession of Ditz, her usual response is to say he was "the booby prize at a card game". |
