"Arrival"
November 30, 2380 - December 18, 2380

"Sometimes ... life can be fun and games." - Wesley S. Hutton, Chief of Security/Tactical

November 30th, 2380

The USS Discovery cleans up from the aftermath of former Chief Engineer Corrino's traitorous destruction and needless loss of life on Starbase 217. When the dust clears, Lieutenant Frost is tried for excessive use of force and conduct unbecoming a Starfleet Officer by the SFMC Judge Advocate General for his teams use of heavy weaponry and lethal force on the party of possessed Starbase crew. Found innocent, Frost leaves with no shore leave and no grade towards next promotion - but with the knowledge that he did the right thing to save the ship.

Immediately the Discovery departs Starbase 217 to embark on it's pioneering mission deep into the Gamma Quadrant. Implementing their state of the art Koeller-Uti HAN Mark 1 Slipstream Drive, the Discovery makes a three week slipstream jump that would take a normal starship one hundred years to travel at warp nine.

Along the way the crew prepares for what lies ahead in the soothing recreation of the ship's holodecks. Captain Eastwood, Lieutenant Hutton, and several others slip into the reality of the hard streets of Riverton Colorado as R.P.D. officers in a fictitious city created by the Captain. As members of "Colorado's Finest", the daring police officers do their best to stop a crime wave started by Second Lieutenant Vonter.

But not all is fun and games, as Lieutenant Commander Bogan must confront the harsh reality of her role as the Second Officer, and the primary instrument of discipline. Lieutenant Frost's rude behavior has come to a head, and Bogan must put a stop to it. In a tense confrontation, Bogan informs Frost of her displeasure for his behavior, and resolves the problem - but at it's own personal price. In a fit of frustration with the Lieutenant, Bogan injures her hand in a strenuous workout session.

Ensign S'svaan is able to see right through Bogan's facade, and along with the Captain allow her to vent her frustrations in a dangerous hunt on a simulated version of Efros. In a deadly hunt for the Gaa'Rana Beast, Bogan vents her rage in a decidedly violent encounter with the fabled Efrosian master predator. Now relaxed again, but slightly sore, the three return to the business of running a starship.

The three weeks pass quickly, for the Discovery crew, and soon they find themselves at the defining moment in their careers - the moment of arrival. They know they are the first to carry their flag so far from home, and it lifts their spirits. Dropping from slipstream, they immediately spot a nearby nebula, and begin to investigate.
