"Janus"
November 27th, 2380 - November 29th, 2380

"Some of your greatest problems lie within ..." - W.C. Eastwood, Commanding Officer

On November 27th, 2380 the USS Discovery is docked at Starbase 217, her last stop before making the slipstream jump into the far reaches of the Gamma Quadrant. While at the Starbase the Discovery takes on additional crewmembers, most notably future Chief Engineer Lieutenant Rakashkas.

But under the seemingly tranquil surface a storm was brewing. Lifetime agent, and member of a mysterious intelligence faction, Lieutenant Commander Leto Corrino accelerates his hidden plan to destroy the Discovery and her Slipstream Drive. His attempts had failed up to date, and he had not been detected. Unbeknownst to Corrino, many of his ultra secret implants were beginning to malfunction, causing a great deal of turbulence among the untrained telepaths on the Discovery and Starbase 217.

While Chief Engineer prepared to make his last and final play of the most deadly game they had faced to date, the crew went about their normal day to day routine oblivious. In a dazzling display of flight prowess, Captain Eastwood bested the Starbase's best fighter pilot in a spectacular mock dogfight above the starbase. With competition running high, Corrino made his move.

Thankfully, Lieutenant Wesley Hutton had been onto Corrino after the rushed saboteur began making a series of small mistakes, revealing his identity as a traitor. They were almost too late however, as Corrino's implants finally failed, causing the telepaths on the ship and starbase to attempt to board and destroy the Discovery.

Sergeant Reginald McCall's marine squad held the airlock with the Support of the 224th Special Operations group, the "Iron Wolves" in a gritty battle to the last man standing. Lieutenant Pia Porta, under Corrino's influence attempted to destroy the ship, and was barely stopped by Discovery security personnel.

With his world crashing down around him, Leto Corrino attempted to make good on his escape, only to be intercepted by a savage Lieutenant JG Gerrant De'Vall. Thankfully security intervened before De'Vall killed Corrino, but the engineer was stricken, his seemingly amazing implants and enhancements destroyed by the fury of a phaser shot to the head. Corrino was taken into custody and tried for treason, and two hundred forty other crimes, and sentenced to life without parole on the Federation's harshest prison world.
