"Tales
of Old" December 19th, 2380 - December 25th, 2380 "That ... was insane." - Antonio Woods, Chief of Operations On December 19th, 2380 The USS Discovery had just arrived in the Gamma Quadrant after a three week long slipstream jump from Federation space. Immediately they detected one nearby star system designated Tychor, and a large nebula nearby. Captain Eastwood opted to scan the nebula before moving deeper into the system. Shortly after the Discovery began her scans, several strange things happened on the ship. Several areas of the ship were transformed into strange environments from Earth's literary history. Everything from Deck Five up had been transformed into a strange version of Never-never Land, and soon Captain Eastwood found himself dressed as Peter Pan, and across from him sat Ashla Bogan, appearing as Wendy. All over the ship similar things happened. Deck 12 was turned into a version of Sherwood Forest, and Ensign S'svaan found himself as Robin Hood, charged with rescuing Pia Porta, mistaken for Maid Marian by the evil Sheriff of Nottingham. Four decks down in Special Operations, Lieutenant Frost was informed he was the true King of Gondor, and that he must lead his people to victory in a graphic representation of J.R.R. Tolkien's Lord of the Rings. Down below in engineering, Lieutenant Rakashkas and his engineers were being hounded by Long John Silver's pirates in their attempts to find the treasure indicated by Captain Flint's old map. Forced to play Jim Hawkins, Lieutenant Rakashkas and his men did their best to foil the marauding pirates, while keeping the ship operational. Below them on Deck 28, Captain Schaeffer's Starfleet Marines found themselves as the Musketeers, squared off against Cardinal's Guards. In a series of frustrating battles, they found themselves no closer to answers than before. Emotions and tensions ran high as the crew constantly ended their respective stories, and were forced to start over. The AvaGem aboard became terrified when they learned of the happenings in Special Operations, as they constantly seemed to glow. On the bridge, Ashla Bogan began to forget that she was herself, and slip totally into the role of Wendy. All across the ship the crew struggled to look for answers to the strange happenings they were trapped in. Eventually they found their answers in the guise of the nebula's indigenous life forms, the Minimixies. Contact was established, and the Minimixies released control of the ship back to the crew. It was then they learned that the Minimixies had been receiving satellite transmissions that were over four hundred years old from Earth. They had interpreted them as human culture, and were attempting to make contact of their own. The Discovery crew and the Minimixies departed in peace, and the Discovery continued into the Tychor system to continue her exploratory efforts. Christmas 2380 came around, and the crew was able to relax and prepare for the next adventure that lie ahead of them. Little did they know the cursed surface of Tychor IV awaited them ...
