"Vows"
November 17, 2380 - November 18th, 2380

"I just don't think people realize exactly what they are
leaving behind for this mission... it's everything, families, homes ... all of it for the stars." -  W. C. Eastwood

The USS Discovery has found itself back at Jupiter Station, taking on final supplies before departing for her five year mission into deep space. They have a few days total to prepare and reflect, tying up final business at home before leaving. For Cassie O'Neal and Marcus Mikkel it's the first steps not only into the unknown, but into a lifetime of marriage.

While the engaged couple hurriedly prepares for their wedding, other officers and crew return to Earth to say goodbye to family and home. For some, such as Lieutenant Frost and Captain Eastwood, this means a visit to the gravesites of parents and family. For others like Ashla Bogan, it's a final look at a home, and a few words with family before departure. They all realize that five years in deep space is five years with little to no contact with home. For some it is easy, for some it will be a true trial.

On the afternoon of November 17th, Cassiopeia O'Neal and Marcus Mikkel were married in the bonds of holy matrimony in the USS Discovery's arboretum. Those present included William C. Eastwood, commanding officer, and half brother of the bride. None present could think of a happier beginning to such a great mission.

* note - Petty Officer 2 Kerris Torvik, 2nd Lieutenant Peter J. Vonter, and Lieutenant Wesley Hutton joined the crew this mission.
