"The
Truth of Heroes and Demons" March 24, 2381 - April 27, 2381 "The
line between the heroes and demons, has never been so vague..." Disclaimer: Dear
Readers; The
writers of the Discovery Role Playing Experience are enthusiasts of
many creations within the science fiction genre, including Star Wars
and, obviously, Star Trek. As
writers we must establish this brief disclaimer for any extreme Star
Wars, and even Star Trek fans that might stumble upon our work.
We will
be frank in our commentary here.
Real scientists don't belong in Star Wars or Star Trek.
Naturally, as part of an extremely fictional genre, Star Trek
and Star Wars are, for lack of a better term, fictional. In many cases the conceptions we view in episodes and movies
are not even loosely based on fact; visual effects are far from
realistic, as well as the verbal babble designed only to intrigue and
entertain. We do
not pretend to raise ourselves to the lofty and educated realm of
scientist. What we have
done here is taken what the creators, as well as fans, have published
of these two stories, observed, and made conclusions.
This does not make us any more correct or intellectual than
the rest of our fellow fans. If you
think our conclusions are wrong, we can only disclose the seemingly
mysterious fact that everyone is free to his or her own
interpretations. We
honestly do not mean to upset any of you, and do apologize if such an
extreme situation does occur, but frankly, we do not know how one
could believe that they are more correct than any one else.
The universes imagined, by Star Wars and Star Trek, do not
exist, and that my friends is the only solid, scientific fact that
surrounds this entire genre. Construe
what you wish of our story; anything within this genre is open to
extreme interpretations, due to its foundation of imagination.
We
recognize that we cannot please everyone, however, instead of
fighting over it, we would prefer just to enjoy writing and reading
our story. In turn we
encourage you to focus your energies on producing your own stories
and ideas, and enjoy the effort placed in your own creation.
Distinctiveness is what makes the literary world go round, and
amity created by focusing one’s energies on broadcast
self-expression is what makes it thrive through readers’ eyes.
Thank
you, and we hope you enjoy. Lieutenant
Commander N.V. Conyers SUMMARY April 24, 2381 The opening, is a swift grab. It begins near the end of an ordeal that the Discovery has experienced after being involuntarily pulled through a strong wormhole into a galaxy unknown to them. This is not just another leap among quadrants; and indeed, the Discovery's astrometrics officer believes that they have been displaced into an older elliptical galaxy within the Egregars Cluster, NCG 963496, nearly 7.5E92 light-years from the Milky Way Galaxy. (If you don't know what that little unusual number means, just think of 75 followed by ninety-one zeros.) The Discovery was pulled into the Egregars Cluster galaxy on March 24, 2381. A week after their arrival, they happen to met with a capital ship from the Imperial Navy. This is the same Empire that the T.I.E. Fighters belonged to which they had investigated before being pulled from their home galaxy. The capital ship is diplomatic in their initial dealings with the Discovery, however, their intentions soon become clear. Captain William Eastwood is abducted or captured, and the Discovery is forced to evade and leave the area when they are attacked by the capital ship. A few days there after, it is decide that Lieutenant Commander N.V. Conyers will lead a search and rescue team for the their missing captain. Conyers takes the ship's yacht, the Wanderer, and a fighter. Her team consists of: Lieutenant Hutton as her first mate and security advisor; Lieutenant De'Vall as a pilot and intelligence agent; Lieutenant Porta as their medic and counselor; Lieutenant Scott as their engineer; and Lieutenant Poole, as their escort fighter pilot, sharing the task with Lieutenant De'Vall. Each member of the team is known by an alias, while Conyers's alias of Ashla Bogan has been the only one established at this time in the plot. The search and rescue team makes very slow headway into their investigation of Captain Eastwood's location, as they pose as mercenaries, spies, and other miscellaneous groups in order secure information. They have become well-traveled for the short amount of time that they are guest in the strange galaxy, trading and purchasing a number of trinkets and technologies. In addition, they have become wanted by the Galactic Empire. They have become friendly with the Rebel Alliance, using their replicators to make needed staple foods, and replacement parts, identical to the Rebellion's technology and blueprints, for their ships and machinery in exchange for star charts and information. The team was also able to secure two small hyperdrive engines for their yacht and fighter, giving them access to the highways of hyperdrive use for quick transportation. Mean while, the U.S.S. Discovery was searching for another wormhole that can transport them home. However, a squadron of Rebel Alliance fighters happened upon the Discovery, and are currently escorting her to the fourth moon of Yavin. Unknown to the Discovery, the Wanderer is already at the fourth moon of Yavin. Lieutenant Scott, much to the chagrin of Conyers, has managed to purchase a rebel fighter craft. April 25, 2381 - Things have grown progressively darker for Captain Eastwood. On the surface it would appear things have started to pick up for him, as his weeks of torture have ended, and the Imperial Navy is treating him decently. His new treatment is exactly what had him worried ... and for good reason. The Imperial Navy's highest echelons, and perhaps the Emperor himself have taken an interest in Eastwood, and offered him a simple choice: join the Imperial Navy and help crush the rebellion - or die. Faced with a no win situation, Eastwood takes the Imperial offer, and begins preparing for his escape. Assigned to the 187th T.I.E. Fighter squadron as a pilot, and the rank of Lieutenant, the lost and alone Eastwood has no way of knowing if there will ever be a chance for him to return home. All he knows is that he has to escape, and soon ... before he gets in too deep. April 27, 2381 - Meanwhile, the Discovery arrives at the Fourth Moon of Yavin. During their brief stay, Commander Sadena is approached by Lieutenant Commander Conyers. In order to secure a stronger masquerade as a rouges and rebels, Conyers provokes Sadena into a hostile discussion. Angered and confused, Sadena punches Conyers in the mouth. The act satisfies Conyers, though troubles her at the same time, as it worked too well. Sadena on the other had becomes increasingly insecure in her own actions, deeply confused by Conyers' actions. Finished with business on the Moon, Conyers and the rescue team leave to follow their next lead ... to an Imperial Super Star Destroyer. Reports through Rebellion spies indicate that Captain Eastwood was taken to the Star Destroyer. Still on the Moon of Yavin, Commander Sadena agrees to travel with the Rebel Alliance to their new home base, just as Imperial forces arrive to drive them from Yavin. The Wanderer arrives at the last known location of the Super Star Destroyer, the Executor, and as expected, the ship is no longer in the area. However, they are able to trace the Destroyer's hyperspace course, and begin pursuit. The Discovery and the escort of Rebel Alliance ships arrives at Hoth, the new Rebel base. Subsequently, the Wanderer arrives in the area, and Sadena orders the crew to return to the Discovery. At that time, the Empire seizes the moment to attack the Rebellion, even before they are settled into their new home. Captain Eastwood, being recruited into the Imperial fighter forces, follows orders to launch into the fray. He attempts to remain as neutral as possible, until an Imperial fighter containing a new friend is destroyed by a Rebel fighter. Enraged, he chases the Rebel fighter as it attempts to take refuge behind the Discovery. On board the Discovery, many are shocked at what they witness, including Sadena. Upon the destruction of the Rebel fighter, Sadena makes the decision to open fire on the T.I.E. fighter containing Captain Eastwood. However, due to the connection between Conyers and Eastwood, which is severely dampened by the energies within the Egregars Cluster, Conyers intervenes, and Eastwood is allowed to land the fighter into relative safety of the Discovery, via high speed maneuvering. Having found the captain, and coincidentally discovering the mouth of the wormhole home, the Discovery leaves the Egregars Cluster in silence. Back in the Milky Way Galaxy, the crew collapses the black wormhole, sealing these two distant places from meeting ever again in the near future. CAST/CREW Clayton Mock as Captain William
