Personal Characteristics
Preferred Title(s)-
On Duty: Commander, Chief;
Off Duty: Conyers.

Name-
Legal: Noelani Vespera Conyers
Preferred Full: Ashla Bogan;
Preferred Casual: Envy, Ashla;
Nickname(s): Noe, Ash, Envy.

Temperament: For the past two years, Conyers had been recovering from what can be simply called, a stress overload. At times she was surprisingly sullen and dry, perhaps even Vulcan in nature. At other times, her true personality broke through the "ice," but was far more tempered than the original Ashla Bogan.

Noelani Conyers, when she was legally known as Ashla Bogan, had a quick temper, quite an attitude, and sometimes an acerbic wit toward authority. Plainly stubborn. She had a duty driven sense of discipline. She was apt to place duty above her personal feelings. She was more "forgetful" than forgiving, and never openly admitted when she's made a mistake. She was also wary of forming any kind of relationship.

Now, in 2380, after at least two years of slow recovery, Conyers perhaps has found herself.  She has changed somewhat, however; her original stubborn nature is not as arrogant, and she has found the ability forgive and to be candid and honest about her mistakes. In any emotional state, she still carries her strong sense of devotion to duty and a strengthened oath as a military officer. She has a deep rooted devotion to the principles of Starfleet and works to uphold them daily.

Likes: She enjoys exploring space, books, and the holodeck. She enjoys spending time with William Eastwood, to whom she is telepathically connected. She especially loves flying and has earned several awards and medals. She prefers either tactical or the CONN over engineering and command.

Dis-likes: Envy strongly dislikes dishonesty.

Quirks: At times, Envy can act before she thinks. However, due to her occasional Vulcan-like personality bouts, she is less prone to this.

Because of her enhancement, Envy did not originally have the ability to cry.  However, she has shed tears, and it is a medical miracle in the least.

Hobbies: Flying, physical training with William Eastwood, reading books, and creating programs. She is a martial artist and gymnast. A crack engineer. She was taking Klingon culture lessons from Krol, the former Chief Security Officer of the USS Sunfire, but his transfer to the USS Washington ended her "education." Occasionally, during her free time Envy furthers her studies on her own, focusing mostly on the Klingon martial arts.

Talents: Flying. She is an excellent engineer and quick thinking. Manipulating objects with telekinesis.

Personals: N/A.

Traditions: None worth noting.

Beliefs: None worth noting.

Miscellaneous: "Envy" is derived from Conyers first and middle initials: N.V. Her previous name, Ashla Bogan, meant “light” “dark.”

Due to her genetic enhancement she has some telekinetic and telepathic abilities, though she rarely uses her tele-kinesis when she can avoid it because of a promise she made to Admiral Conyers, and the troubles it has caused in use. Envy has the ability to telepathically connect with any person she so desires (sharing everything from mere thoughts to dreams), but only one person at a time. She was first linked to her dear friend Stellan, and then Captain Jim West of the Sunfire, followed by Captain Decade, and is now linked to William Eastwood.

Envy once created a flight maneuver she called the “hyperon.” However, due to the stresses this maneuver places on ships and their passengers, Starfleet has not officially adopted it.

History-

(Declassified per orders: Admiral Conyers, Head of Internal Affairs; IDF Admiralty; 56137.8)

Pre-Starfleet: Noelani Conyers is a person of many names. Conyers was born as Leysai (lee say) on the 24 January 2350. She was the first child of Mikkel Leukosdoron and Isolde Braonàn, a mistress of Mikkel. Conyers did not know her mother very well.  Isolde reportedly said nearly ten years later, that she was embarrassed by her connections with Mikkel, but was forced to comply to his wishes.  Isolde was favored enough that she was given a home far from Mikkel's palace, where she attempted to live her life in peace after Conyers's birth.  However, to her dismay, Mikkel visited her many times.  In late 2355, Isolde Braonàn, who was pregnant with Noelani's younger sister, Audra, deserted Mikkel and moved to Earth with her bodyguard, Tristan Murchadh.

Tressa Leukosdoron, Mikkel’s wife, whom he had married in 2344, legally adopted Noelani. Conyers's biological father, Mikkel, was the royal governor of the Akira Sector (See below for more information.) Conyers was the youngest child in the Leukosdoron family but heir to the family's throne. She had an older brother, Deran, but he was deemed unfit for governance by Mikkel.

Because Envy's people lived outside of Federation space, they were of course not bound by Federation laws. As a result, the royal family of Leukosdoron's began to practice genetic enhancements on their offspring. Noelani, her older half-brother, Deran, and her younger sister, Audra, were all born genetically enhanced.

Noelani grew up with a nanny and personal maid named, Dauira (dar rea). Though Noelani did spend a great deal of time with her parents, Dauira was given the charge of raising her, and many times Dauira did not agree with the philosophies of Envy's biological father and step-mother. Conyers first learned of the Federation from Dauira, an organization that Noelani's parents greatly opposed and tried to keep under wraps from her, who's greatest wish was to explore the stars. Noelani eventually learned more from the traders that would visit Pandoran, and later expressed her wish to join, but her father forbade it.

When Noelani Conyers was 12 (2362), she stowed away on a trader's ship and was discovered. The Captain of the ship, Metak, returned to Pandoran and tried to ransom her back to her father, but her father refused.  Instead he disowned her, banning her from returning to the sector.  Her father paid Metak to keep her.  She was forced to work on one of many trading ships in Metak's fleet. Metak was a horrible man in simple terms, and Noelani carries many scarred memories from her time with him.  A year later (2363), she stole Metak's personal shuttle and escaped to Earth where she was given asylum. (The shuttle was returned to Metak.)

That same year, Noelani Conyers gained Earth citizenship, changing her name to Ashla Bogan. She was taken in by Peter (son of Admiral Conyers) and Jane Conyers, though they did not legally adopt her. She began her pre-Starfleet studies under the tutelage of Admiral Conyers’ assistant, Commander Hastur. In 2367 a bounty hunter (named, Stellan), was sent by her father, but could not bring himself to kill her when he found her (they had been good friends before she had been exiled from Pandoran), and he ended up turning himself in. Through his interrogation, they learned of a few plots against Noelani and those that had taken her in. From that moment on, until shortly after the fall of the Akiran Sector, all information regarding her and her guardians' whereabouts was closely guarded.

Academy: In 2365, Noelani desired to enter the Academy, but her application was stalled because of her genetic enhancements, and it threatened her chances of joining Starfleet. Eventually, the academy accepted the advice of Admiral Conyers, head of IA, and his close friend, Admiral Bouer, an agent of IS. Conyers entered later that year. She was able to catch up in her studies and graduated in 2372 at 19 as a lieutenant junior grade.

Commission: Her first tour of duty was aboard the USS Challenger under Captain Trazen.  She was instantly demoted to ensign for "attitude and behavioral problems . . . disrespect for authority . . ." After a further year she was transferred by request of Trazen for "personality conflicts." Noelani was returned to lieutenant junior grade under the conditions of "failure and misjudgment by a commanding officer . . ." Admiral Bouer and a submission to military court brought this about.

At the end of 2376, Envy joined the USS Sunfire as the chief helm officer, under Captain James West. In 2377, upon the organization of Independence Fleet, she was promoted to Lieutenant Commander and became the Sunfire's XO in place of Charles Star who took command of the USS Avalon.

Near the end of 2377, Admiral Conyers officially adopted Noelani. Admiral Conyers and his wife expressed their desire to name her, Noelani Verspera Conyers; however, Noelani did not attempt to officially change her name on Starfleet records until early 2379.

During 2378, the USS Sunfire and USS Liberty participated in a joint mission. Noelani had met Ace Decade briefly before.  During the joint assignment, Ace expressed his feelings for Noelani.  Conyers felt his expression was rather abrupt, and thought she admits finding Ace physically attractive, she was not romantically involved with him, and did not dream of becoming so.  She still harbored feelings for Admiral West, though he had never returned those feelings, even if they became strongly evident by his hostile reaction to Ace Decade's attempts to flirt with her.  By the end of their combined mission, Decade had become critically injured, and she ended up telepathically connecting with him as a friendly gesture to save his life.

Shortly thereafter, Noelani was kidnapped from the Sunfire by her elder brother, Deran.  Deran had managed to abduct Stellan, and was able to extract information as to Noelani's whereabouts from him. Deran then cloned Stellan, using the clone to infiltrate the Sunfire.  West and Ace attempted to rescue her, inadvertently rescuing a clone of Noelani that Deran had placed as a decoy. The clone was killed in an accident on board the Banting, and Noelani Vespera Conyers was recorded as deceased in Starfleet records in late 2378. As a side note, the cloned Noelani, still known as Ashla Bogan, expressed romantic feelings for Ace Decade upon his departure.  In addition, she and Captain James West began a relationship shortly before she was killed. None of the Sunfire crew nor the clone, knew that she was a clone.

However, the real Noelani still existed, and was taken to her old home of Pandoran. She was a prisoner of her manic depressive brother, who had earlier killed Mikkel and Tressa. Her brother was planning to use her as source of information in his campaign to conquer the Federation. By luck, the Liberty was sent to investigate rumors of Deran's plans and aided Noelani in her escape, though it failed.  Noelani was lost to Morana Thanatos, a malicious Q-like being whom many Native Akirans consider a mythical goddess of death. She remained in Morana's realm for a short time before being mysteriously released and rescued by the Liberty once more. By this time, the Independence Fleet had split, and Counselor Reah Santiago had taken her position as executive officer on the Sunfire.

Noelani was shaken after her encounter with Morana Thanatos.  She felt she had lost everything that was dear to her.  As Reah Santiago had been promoted to executive officer, Noelani no longer had a place on the Sunfire.

Subsequently, Noelani was then invited to become the USS Liberty's next executive officer. She accepted, however serving for only a few months.  Ace expressed again his feelings, and they attempted to pursue a relationship.  Near the end of Noelani's service as executive officer, she felt trapped in the relationship with Ace Decade.  She felt that they were incompatible, and was on the verge of breaking their ties with Captain Ace Decade.  It was at this time that the Liberty was under ambush and captured by members of a gang called, "Black Dragon." The crew eventually escaped with the Liberty but they were unable to rescue Captain Decade.

Just after the captain's abduction, Lieutenant Commander William Eastwood joined the USS Liberty.  As the Liberty was still under light capture, Noelani found it necessary to telepathically connect with William Eastwood in an attempt to better coordinate their attempts to oust the boarders over a broader area, as the enemy could intercept combadge communications.  At the same time, the "Black Dragon" was launching an assault on the Federation and as a result, Starfleet was unable to immediately send help for Decade. Noelani, becoming frustrated by the situation and guided by her deep sense of duty as an executive officer; she felt that she had failed the ship and her captain by allowing him to be captured.  In result, she turned AWOL in an attempt to locate and rescue Decade herself. The Federation then considered her a criminal and pursued her for abandoning her command in war. Lieutenant Commander Eastwood was the main officer sent to find Noelani, and when the chase finally ended, both parties were emotionally stressed.  Noelani had encountered Metak, the trader captain, who attacked her.  Eastwood was able to rescue her, but also was forced to take her into custody for her crimes.  The stress caused Noelani to become what some call, emotionally broken.

Noelani was convicted and sentenced to life in prison. Eastwood, acting out of friendship and driven by his feelings in desperation not to lose Noelani, rescued her from the Federation (thus becoming a criminal himself). Both Eastwood and Noelani were later deemed MIA.

Noelani Conyers and Willaim Eastwood, assisted the Liberty on 16 August 2378 when the Federation starship, along with one Klingon and one Romulan vessel, were ambushed by a Breen/Remen force. Shortly there after, Captain Ace Decade invited them to join his crew, and they did so under the aliases of Envy Conyers and Clint Eastwood.  Decade gave them status as non-Starfleet officers, and had them organize the ship's SWAT (Special Weapons And Tactics) Team (also known as a Hazard Team).

In late February of 2379, an intelligence agent inadvertently discovered Envy Conyers and her true identity. She was immediately reported to Starfleet Command, however the result of the incident was unexpected. Independence Fleet reviewed Commander Conyers’s record after her secret return to the Liberty and concluded that confinement was unnecessary. Instead, Conyers was reinstated and demoted to Lieutenant Commander and given the official position as the Chief Engineer of the Liberty under Captain Jeremiah Griffith. Subsequent reprimands for Commander Ace Decade and others involved in the secrecy were pending but eventually deemed unnecessary.

On stardate 56535.2, Commander William Eastwood received orders from CINCSOL to return to Earth with an aide. Lieutenant Commander Noelani Conyers was chosen as his aide, which was far from coincidental planning. Upon arrival at Earth, Eastwood reported information crucial to an ongoing and undisclosed investigation, to Admiral Conyers, Head of Internal Affairs. Due to the importance of the information, both Eastwood and Conyers were reassigned to the USS Conqueror. Conyers was given the position of Chief Helms Officer.  All information that lead to their reassignment was classified.

Akira Sector-

In 2161, only a few months before the United Federation of Planets was founded, a group of people led by Mikkel (Noelani's great+ grandfather) Leukosdoron left Earth and founded their own colony on an uninhabited planet they called Pandoran. The Leukosdorons were "voted" by the people as the leaders of their colony and from three hundred years of hereditary rule, they have become recognized as a royal family.

However, though Pandoran was an uninhabited planet, the sector did contain a native people.  They are commonly referred to as "Native Akirans."  These native people were not ready for First Contact.  Though they had build rudimentary spacecraft, they were far from warp experimentation, and in addition they had ceased all space exploratory programs.

The Native Akirans were an extremely religious people.  They worshiped a goddess that called herself Morana Thanatos.  The people had rarely seen the Q-like being that had taken them under her wing, but her existence became increasingly clear after Mikkel's people arrived.

At first, relations between the natives and Mikkel's followers was friendly if at least civil.  But soon the native people were driven from their homes and massacred.  There are very few Native Akirans left.  Outraged, Morana began to work maliciously among the people, and she is blamed by the Native Akirans for a loss of ethics and civility in the Akiran Sector among their conquerors.

But when the Akiran government was dissolved by the people, Morana Thanatos became extremely vengeful, and abducted people like Noelani, and crew members from the Liberty.  She had hoped that the Akiran government might collapse upon itself, and destroy its people.

On other notes: Pandoran is one of two M-Class planets in the Emi system, so named after the Japanese word, which means "blessed/rich with beauty." Approximately seven billion people live on Pandoran, five billion on the sister planet, Leukosa, and four million on the far moon of Leukosa, called Doron. There are six star systems including Emi that are controlled by the Leukosdorons, which stretch across approximately 60 light-years. This sector and coalition of these systems is called Akira, after the Japanese word for "intelligent." The total populace of this sector is approximately 400 billion.

The Akira sector's border is heavily guarded by static mines, phaser/chroniton torpedo turrets, military platforms, and is frequently patrolled. There are eighty customs checkpoints on the border, which are not easy to bypass or get through, in or out. (DNA checks are a common form of passport.) Communications transmissions are also closely watched. In order to leave the system, they must be sent to a communications transfer station where the signal goes through a series of signal analysis computers, and code and transmission specialists. If the signal is "harmless", it will be passed on to its intended destination. Any signal that is not sent to the communications station is jammed and will not make it out of the sector. This heavy guard took a great deal of resources to accomplish from within and without the sector, but the Leukosdorons wanted to be separated from the Federation. (Remember that in space, borders are three-dimensional.)

Their military strength (strategy and technology) is relatively equal to the Federation with an exception in numbers. The Federation has grown substantially since it’s founding, and the Akira sector was eventually surrounded. They are a small island in Federation space except for a narrow corridor, which is riddled with black holes and spatial fissures.

The Akira Coalition trades frequently with different races, even though they were secretly xenophobic. Originally, most of those races were anti-Federation, and they had formed many alliances with those outside the Federation. They seemed to be a growing anti-feeling for the Federation. Once Isolde Braonàn deserted Mikkel, the royal governor closed the boarders of the Akira Sector completely to any race friendly with the Federation, and no longer allowed free movement of Akirans beyond Akiran boarders. Mikkel felt the Federation was responsible for the loss of his favorite mistress, and did not wish to loose his followers as well.

Until 2378, Starfleet had been unable to send in intelligence operatives into the Akira sector, and little else was known than what was gained from inside sources like Envy and Stellan who have gotten out. All tactical information was gained from what Starfleet had been able to observe on the outside. For a long time Mikkel was able to maintain control of Akira and the Akirans, as the Akiran military was large and very loyal to the ruler.

However, upon his murder by his son, Deran, loyalty to the royal family began to falter, and information began to leak into Starfleet Intelligence. After the Liberty's mission to Akira, the Akira Coalition, under Envy's direction, created a treaty of peace with the Federation. Akira is currently governed by Stellan per Noelani's wish. All hostility and covert habits have ceased.
