Post/Log Scenario Test

This is a test of your writing abilities, among other things.  Choose a scenario and write a medium sized post (between three to six paragraphs long).  You may use any posting style you wish, or no posting style at all.  However, I request that the narrative be in the third person style, and the log be in first person.

Scenario 1: You are an Engineering Officer on board the USS Vertigo.  The Vertigo's warp core coolant system suffered a cascade system failure for unknown reasons.  The Chief Engineering Officer and most of the staff were trapped when engineering was evacuated and are assumed KIA (Killed in Action).  Now the ship is under an eminent warp core breach in less that three minutes, and the Captain is looking to you for solutions.  Meanwhile the ship is under orders to completely evacuate the ship.  If the warp core does breach, the crew will be stranded, days from the nearest Federation ship available for rescue.  Will you save the ship in time?

Scenario 2: Write a personal or duty log, stardate 56007.8.  You were part of an away team to an unexplored and uninhabited planet.  During your stay on the planet you became separated from the away team, and you were forced to take refuge in a cave from a sudden, violent storm.  You have not heard from your ship or away team for two days, and are running low on rations.  You believe this log might be you last.  What will you say?  Have you learned anything you liked to share?  Have you a message for home or anyone?

Scenario 3: You are the CONN officer in a major battle on the USS Fearless.  The Federation has been attacked by a new, unfamiliar enemy.  Their ships carry a strong defensive and weapons array, however they are fairly slow and difficult to maneuver.  Knowing this the Captain expects a great deal from you, being the Chief CONN Officer, and you must coordinate your maneuvers with tactical as you work together to look for a weakness in the enemy's defenses.  Will you find a weakness?  What is the battle like?

Remember you do not have to write a whole story, just a portion of it.
