Day 6 continued

The gatch track got gradually worse, and we had to keep around 100m between vehicles in order to maintain reasonable visibility. Then suddenly we were overtaken by another Disco easily doing over 100kph, throwing stones everywhere and the occupants were a group of ex-pats, what a bunch of W*NKERS. A quick warning on the radio to the others from Jon probably prevented any incident, unfortunately we did not get his number, and if he had stopped at Marmul when we were there the driver would have been lynched!

Typical donkey pump

The road around Marmul was black top although potholed in places, then towards Salalah, it got worse and worse and worse. Definitely one of the worst roads I have ever driven.

Marmul Gatch Track

150 km later we reached black top and the road south to Salalah, a very strange feeling. Soon we reached the outskirts of Oman’s second largest city, now being able to travel at higher speeds.
